Surprise Cameos in X-Men: First Class (Spoilers)

We're a week away from the movie and there's still new information coming.

Some people love spoilers and others avoid them like the plague. If you are one that likes to avoid them, it's getting to be more and more impossible these days. You can almost find anything on the internet. Sometimes they get spoiled by fans and other times those involved, whether it's the film makers or publishers, spoil things intentionally or unintentionally.

No Caption Provided

Some critics have already had a chance to see the film. One pretty big cameo has been mentioned/rumored. There is another one that I hadn't heard until I saw this official trailer/clip that tbpinkfloyd pointed in my direction.

If you want some spoilers, look below.

== TEASER ==

The first is one that I can't officially confirm. There's been talk that a younger Hugh Jackman would be appearing as Wolverine. Bryan Singer has said it's not going to happen but he would love to have Jackman as Wolverine in a sequel, if there was one. From what I've heard, Charles and Magneto enter a bar and Wolverine tells them to "$#@% off." There's also been mentioned of a CG Hugh Jackman. If this is going to happen, you would think it wouldn't be shown in early screenings. That's what they did when I saw Iron Man I a week before it's release. We weren't shown the Nick Fury scene at the end.

The second cameo comes from this following clip.

No Caption Provided

As you can see, when Charles uses Cerebro, there's a certain white haired girl that appears. I think it's safe to assume this is actually Storm. The mutants are the ones in color. We could sit here and try to figure out who else is seen by Charles. Is that one girl talking to two others Jean? Who's that girl talking on the phone in the background to the right?

Again, this clip was officially released by 20th Century Fox. I'm not a big fan of spoilers but these days, you just can't avoid them. It's my duty to report them to those interested. If you don't see it here, you'll see it somewhere eventually.

What are your thoughts on these two cameos? Do you think we'll see more?

Honestly, I prefer having more of the mutants appear in cameo roles. It beats trying to shoehorn several dozen of them into the story and leaving them largely undeveloped. Plus, Easter Eggs are just fun. :)

Wow, I have to say, considering how awful the original reveals were, this looks set to be quite possibly my favourite Super flick of the Summer. The only problem is, with all these spoilers and trailers, I feel I've pretty much seen the entire movie, and nothing will surprise me. For example, from that, I know who goes 'good' and who goes 'bad' (Albeit, it's always been obvious, but you know... I'd of liked some surprise.)

I suppose it's my own fault for succumbing to the reveals :P

Can't wait for this flick....and having to explain to everyone I know who isn't a comic book fan who all these characters are.

Early reviews for X-Men First Class from the earlier New York screenings are coming out very POSITIVE.

That's right... POSITIVE REVIEWS !!!!

What the!?

Some reviewers are even saying it's as good and on par with X2 - yikes!

Looks like this film may actually surprise a lot of people.

Normally I avoid spoilers like the plague, (for instance, I had no idea Hawkeye was in Thor), but since I have ZERO intention of seeing this movie, (and I'm a HUGE X-men fanatic), I can safely read anything.  :D

As for the positive reviews, I have read most of them and they are by and large, from people who  admittedly know NOTHING about the X-men. They are the kind of people who couldn't care less about the canon and just see it as another blockbuster summer flick. I'm sure it's not that bad of a movie at all - I just don't like what they've done to the X-men's origin.

Surprise? No. I knew it was going to be good. Disappointing from a comic reader stand point but it has great actors and a good director. Sadly its going to be the best comic movie of the summer. Cowboys and Aliens might be better but I dont really consider it a comic book movie.

I don't need to see the movie now... it's all in that clip! And I sure don't want to pay good money to see bad special effects of 'Angel' spewing fire... that was so bad I couldn't stop laughing!

Fox really need to just let go of the franchise.

I just gasmed at the though of my favorite X-Woman "Storm" being in First Class even if its a cameo. But If she actually appears in a sequel I hope with everything in me that she gets a good unknown actress to play her.

When I first heard about the roster, I was a little upset because almost nore of them are acctually founding members, but after watching that clip and know Wolverine is at the end, I think I'll be able to enojoy the movie.

@Thunderscream: She wasn't spitting fire she was spitting the vomit stuff.

@Metatron_Da_Don: That comparison has always been there, I even used it in a couple of comic book related papers that I wrote.

@Chibi-Iroh: yeah, but the vomit was just corrosive, not explosive.

@Chibi-Iroh:
Early on you could make the comparison as both had there parents killed by racists and became separatists. He only said don't let people sic dogs on you and beat your brains in.But Malcolm X evolved to advocate harmony and peace. Malcolm X wasn't even a leader early on he was a spokesman.
You can come up with a better comparison than Malcolm X or at least not compare him to a terrorist leader like Magneto.
There are a lot of similarities but Magneto was a legitimate terrorist and war criminal. Don't like how it was just a throwaway comment.

X-Men First Class - early reviews is a HOMERUN hit among critics

BLEEDING COOL

All in all, First Class is a damn fine superhero movie. More geared, I would suggest, to the more mature fanboy as opposed to some of the aspartame-crazed comic book capers that tend to pop up on the boxes of Happy Meals.

If you were nervous the latest chapter in the X-Men franchise might disappoint, I’m happy to report it’s a huge home-run. Everything from the great script to the awesome performances by the entire cast (with special mention to James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender) makes this X-Men film my favorite in the franchise. Also, the film is loaded with incredible action and a ton of Easter Eggs for the fans. Even the sets and costumes are great. Trust me, as soon as the movie is over, you’re going to wish the next chapter was coming out next week. Hit the jump for more.

MOVIE CITY NEWS

I really enjoyed this film. Nothing in it really has the simple, raw intensity of Hit Girl in Vaughn’s Kick-Ass. Vaughn has been a little denuded here. He is great at filthy fun. But still, he shows that he has the chops. Look for the masterfully artful effects sequence early in the film and some of the great ways Vaughn has his characters manifest their powers. And while it makes you wonder how much better X-Men 3 could have been, it also makes you happy that he didn’t do an X-film until he had the opportunity to do it his way fully.

X-Men: First Class is a big, ambitious film that bites off a lot more than most superhero movies could ever hope to chew. It rarely stumbles -- some might say it's overstuffed, but hey, repeat viewings to take it all in are what fanboys like us are made for -- it frequently excites, and it also feels. It's finally just the story of two men and their friendship, which is doomed from the start. We know that story so well, and yet somehow Vaughn has made it feel fresh and new again.

It’s not all serious. The overall sense I’m left with after First Class, for all its heaviness, is of a film that’s sweet, funny, and pleasingly fast-paced. Jennifer Lawrence (Winter’s Bone) as Raven, Charles’s adopted sister and a shapeshifting mutant, is delightful, and particular when she begins to enjoy a “normal” teen crush experience with another mutant, Hank (played by the adorable Nicholas Hoult: Clash of the Titans, A Single Man). There are some hilarious and just-right cameos that make you laugh and sigh at the same time with how perfect they are and how naturally they are worked into the story. It’s not Shakespeare... but, as breezy, thoughtful summer comic-book movies go, almost. Al-damn-most.

It's Jean because in x3 they supposedly used CGI to make Ian and Patrick look younger.Maybe after thi s movie Prof will loose his hair  from the physic strain of his power or something.

@Aqua11500: I'm just not after the baldness of Charles here. CGI or not, there is still an obvious age difference between XFC and that clip in X3. Probably just some other character. I guess that we'll just have to wait and watch the film :)

as a movie fan, and with the HUGE distaste for critics, these are actually good reviews by some of the reviewers who I actually listen too.  This is great news.  I'm beyond the whole, "They killed the X-Men because they changed ___________ to______________)  I'm beyond that.  It's funny how people want to scratch peoples eyes out when a film changes cannon but not when an animated show does.  I don't get that and never will.  I look at it as an Elseworlds on film and it keeps me from getting upset.  I had a feeling this film would be done well. Can't wait to see it.
