I've mentioned it before, I'm a sucker for a nice hardcover. As we await the third season of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., we thought we'd take a look at the Season 2 Declassified hardcover by Troy Benjamin.
To really get a good sense of what the book is like, we thought a video hands on would show off how cool it is.

The book has a cool slip case cover. You get the logo on the front along with of the alien symbols on the back.
Inside is a pretty cool foreword by Clark Gregg. It's crazy to think that he's been part of the Cinematic Universe since 2008's Iron Man. He has become the heart of the Cinematic Universe in some ways along with the same for this show. He shares some insight and thoughts about the last season of the show and it's interesting to hear it from his perspective.
After an introduction, the book features the personnel records of the characters.
The 'records' are a mix of history recap mixed with some quotes from the actors. There aren't really and huge secrets here fans of the show won't already know but it's a good look at who each character is and what the actors have to say about them.
The heart of the book is the Season Two Declassified section. It takes a close look at each individual issue. There's a bunch of images and a nice summary for each one.
Besides just recapping each one, there's a bunch of behind the scenes info and images as well. We get nice shots of different sets, concept art, information on costumes, and the production process.
There's also "Field-Op Notes" pointing out little facts you might have missed along with mentions of obvious and not-so-obvious Easter Eggs in each episode.
If you haven't already, check out the video up above to really get a good sense of the information contained.
The book closes with a look at The Art of Evolution. This gives us a look at the different art, seen on variant covers and promos, by artists such as Gabriele Dell'Otto, Marcos Martin, Declan Shalvey & Jordie Bellaire, Annie Wu, Dave Johnson, Delicious Design League, Jenny Frison, Nathan Fox, Jake Wyatt, Marguerite Sauvage, Ryan Sook, and Joshua Budich.
It's a great collection in a nice package. It retails for $49.99. I got mine for a little less online.
If you want to hear more about the book and the process, be on the look out for our upcoming interview with writer Troy Benjamin.
