See The Animated Comic Cover For DC's Doomsday Clock

Rorschach's face reveals the logos for DC's Trinity.

This November, the highly-anticipated miniseries Doomsday Clock will hit comic shops. Today, DC revealed the lenticular cover for the first issue, which features Watchmen's Rorschach, whose mask morphs into the logos for Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman.

No Caption Provided

The issue, as seen above, uses existing artwork from Watchmen artist Dave Gibbons. The cover is actually animated as you tilt the comic while looking at it. DC has produced lenticular covers for other landmark moments, like Rebirth and Futures End.

Doomsday Clock will combine the DC and Watchmen worlds for the first time, and it will take place one year in the future from current continuity. While DC is playing its cards close to its chest, writer Geoff Johns said readers will know what the book is about from the first page of the first issue. Obviously, by looking at the logo for the comic, it has something to do with Superman and a countdown to something dealing with the Man of Steel. We'll learn more about this story a few months from now.

You can the lenticular cover for Doomsday Clock #1 from comic shops on November 22.

Sort of generic how they took Dave Gibbons' art and posted the logos on top of it. Plus, as other people have pointed out, the rorschach blots aren't symmetric like they should be.

Still hyped for this!

I used to get a lot of the comics news here but it HAS been slower lately. Cutbacks? I'd have loved to see what the staff thought about the Kirby one shots from DC, and other minis like the Demon's new book and Ragman's as well.

Im semi-excited for this DCU/Watchmen to happen, so long as it's more than just Manhattan vs Superman. If DC is never gonna give us a Question series, transplanting Rorschach into the DCU might be fun...

DON'T SAY THAT :'( but to be fair, I had a read of some of the most recent Question stuff (which is before new 52 :'( ) and it's way too hard to follow for a mainstream audience. Question would have to be plugged into something bigger, standalone just doesn't seem like it would sell.

It seems like every comic site is dying nowadays and kept on life support by their forums. I know Marvel comics are really bad now but comic movies and tv shows are mega popular so shouldn't this be a golden age regardless? Even the 90s was better than this.

I mean come on...it was like 6 weeks between posts? I'm sure there are plenty of forum nerds willing to write stuff. Or did Gamespot run off everyone eventually?

It's a shame such a cool site is going to waste. Had to know Tony's departure would be the end.

@bl00dwerk: Even before his departure, it was still fewer and fewer articles. Sigh.

Oog well

Given what I see on sales charts and local shop closing being here makes me wonder what next few years hold for comics.

This is really whats being talked about more....the reviews, weekly battles and even some of the TV show/story arc breakdowns could be and are ALREADY being done by viners. It's just none of it is touching the homepage to bring in life.
