Image Comics is delivering a new comedic series that delves into the realm of politics. In CITIZEN JACK, Jack Northworthy plans to run for President of the United States of America, except he has a secret: he's working with a demon to get to the top. Sam Humphries is penning the new series debuting on November 4 and he talked to us about the upcoming book.

COMIC VINE: Will Jack be wearing something other than a pink robe in upcoming issues?

SAM HUMPHRIES: CITIZEN JACK is a horror comedy. It's the story of one man's transformation by the political machine, for better or worse. You'll see that reflected in his clothes, hair, and many other things. However, all of you have been witness to my transformation by the comic book machine, mostly for worse. So for me, it's pink robe, duck boots, and cowboy hat from now on. See you at the conventions!

CV: Where did the idea for the book come from?

HUMPHRIES: A real life demon told me the story about how he tricked America into electing a president...but he made me promise never to reveal which one! Who do YOU think it was??

Really, it came out of being frustrated and angry and alienated by the state of politics in America. Personally, that began in 1998, but really it's been going on for decades before that.

CV: How did you hook up with Tommy Patterson and Jon Alderink?

HUMPHRIES: We met on the campaign trail for Ross Perot in 1996. Jon operated Perot's hands, I operated his mouth, and Tommy did his voice. No one believed that three down and out puppeteers could produce a comic book so gorgeous, but we proved them wrong! I mean, have you seen the pages? Tommy and Jon have done incredible work.

CV: What's up with the dolphin news commentator?

HUMPHRIES: Cricket the Dolphin is already the breakout star of 2016. I'd say he's a comment on the corrupt and farcical media industry. Buuuuut I depend on the media industry to promote my comics, so -- I included him because he's such a lil cutie pie!!!

CV: Would you say the book is commentary for how over-the-top political races have become?

HUMPHRIES:

CV: What do you find humorous about politics in America?

HUMPHRIES: Virtually nothing, but sometimes it's so frustrating, alienating, and ridiculous, you either have to scream, or laugh. Or, in my case, make a horror comedy, and call it CITIZEN JACK!

Thanks to Sam Humphries for answering our questions and make sure to check out CITIZEN JACK on Wednesday, November 4. Check out a preview of issue #1 below.
