Release Date for the LOSERS

For real, this time...

So the trailer knocked your socks off! So you’re about to run, barefooted, to the box office.   So you hopelessly, desperately want to see THE LOSERS.

But when can you? April? June? Or is it April again?

She's got a gun pointed at each release date.
She's got a gun pointed at each release date.

And she's got another pointed at... YOU!
And she's got another pointed at... YOU!

Like a pistolero dancing back ‘n forth between enemies bullets, THE LOSERS’ release date has been shifting to ‘n fro across the calendar. At first go, it was set to come out on the ninth of April. Then, Greek mythology swashbuckler CLASH OF THE TITANS needed some extra time to be properly brought into the third dimension and pushed its release-date to April 2nd. In the face of competition from the mega block-buster, THE LOSERS pushed back to the fourth of June.

As fate would have it, the A-TEAM, which similarly deals with a para-military group of double-crossed gunhands, is set to come out close to that date. So the release date changed again.  Now the flick’s set to shoot ‘atchya on the twenty-third of April. It’s opening against the long-in-the-works WALL STREET 2: MONEY NEVER SLEEPS,  McGuyver-parody MACGRUBER and Jennifer Lopez’s THE BACK-UP PLAN - - none of which seem to encroach on the LOSERS’ target demo.

So mark the date with a bullet.   April 23rd. That’s when it’s hitting. For now, at least.

For those of you unfamiliar with the Vertigo series on which this action-comedy’s based, here’s the official synopsis (with thanks to Comingsoon)…

An explosive tale of double cross and revenge, THE LOSERS centers upon the members of an elite U.S. Special Forces unit sent into the Bolivian jungle on a search and destroy mission. The team-- Clay, Jensen, Roque, Pooch and Cougar -- find themselves the target of a lethal betrayal instigated from inside by a powerful enemy known only as Max. Presumed dead, the group makes plans to even the score when they're joined by the mysterious Aisha, a beautiful operative with her own agenda. Working together, they must remain deep undercover while tracking the heavily-guarded Max, a ruthless man bent on embroiling the world in a new high-tech global war.

Judging from the poster, you’ve got Zoe “ Uhura” Saldana as Aisha, “The Comedian” Jeffery Dean Morgan as Clay and Chris "Human Torch" Evans as Jensen. And, you know, no matters how many comic movies come out and no matter how often their casts crossover, I don’t suppose it’ll ever cease being amusing to point coincidences like those out.
