Preview: THANOS VS. HULK #1

Looks like Hulk hit puberty

The only way to deal with the Hulk before he becomes too powerful and too angry to control. Kill/shut down the brain, and you'll temporarily shut down the Jade Juggernaut. However, I have a feeling that it won't last too long.

Is this canon? I have a feeling no.

There must be some catch as to why Hulk cam dduke it out with Thanos

Is loeb writting this? It's the only way that the hulk could defeat thanos.

I'm really not looking forward to this. I'm a huge Thanos fan, but the more books he's in the more likely he is to get low-balled. I don't want to see him in crap like Avengers Assemble, or when he was actually in a storyline with Ka-Zar (later retconned of course). Hopefully with this being written by a Thanos-loving Jim Starlin it won't happen.

We know if thanos uses his various abilities he can beat Hulk...almost easily. But Thanos likes a challenge sometimes. If Thanos was to fight only using fist, you don't think Hulk can at least give him a good fight?

@pooty: maybe. The exact same argument is made from Thor vs Hulk. The bottom line is Thor loses to Hulk based on brute strength when trying to duke it out. Hulk used to be a great character but now he's just a jobber. His character, imo, should at least be on Thanos' level physically and stronger since that's his whole thing. Thanos would most certainly have to forget his other powers to lose to the hulk, but it isn't far fetched to imagine the Hulk gaining the upperhand the longer a fist fight rages on. Unfortunately he disappoints. Thoughts?

I agree. The strongest version of Hulk aka WB Hulk should be able to beat thanos in H2H. In this comic i doubt they have a fight like WWH had with Sentry. In fact Hulk is a prisoner and Thanos gets dragged into this. I don't think Hulk and Thanos have a problem with each other. Im betting they have a brief "misunderstanding" fight. Then team up to defeat the bad guys.

Here's Hulk fighting and withstanding and driving back a Skyscraper-sized Thanosi, whose power is far above those of the real Thanos, while in a weakened condition from the separation from Banner during the Onslaught conflict with only some minor assistance from X-Man.

Apparently some people are forgetting that Hulk is one of the most powerful heroes in all of comics. He's one of the few heroes in the Marvel Universe who can go 1-on-1 with Thanos and stalemate him in a solid fight. And while they boast about Thanos' few feats, they completely forgot those impressive feats done by the Hulk on many numerous occasions (a lot of them extremely impressive and out-rank most feats done by the Mad Titan) through the past 50+ years (with Thanos, the Beyonder, and even the Celestials stating Hulk's infinite potential for infinite power).

Then again... Nah, people are just trolling as per usual. Yet, if it's say Superman taking on Darkseid or Thor taking on Thanos, you won't hear a single complaint. Yep, it's the old case of low-balling the Hulk and not giving him any measure of respect, just basically due to him not having more powers/more versatility.

Go figure, right?

A lot of you people also have to realize that more powers/versatility don't guarantee superiority nor a victory against a powerful enemy/foe.

I think a lot of people are going to be surprised by how much respect Jim Starlin will give the Hulk in this mini-series. Because even though he's Thanos creator, he's a big fan of the Hulk and knows full well of the Jade Juggernaut's potential for infinite rage & power.

All I'm hoping for is an awesome story. I mean, come on! Would it be so bad if Hulk and Thanos have an all-out ( powerful energy blasts, planet-shattering blows, the whole works) altercation that ends in a stalemate? It would serve both characters some major respect. Thanos would prove he's more than capable of taking on the mightiest of heroes and Hulk would prove that he's more than capable of taking on the most powerful of villains. Both sides win in a scenario like this.

couple of things, one hulk had help from X-man to fight thanos because otherwise thanos was going to kill him, two we've seen thanos(normal thanos) fight to the point where planets explode(fighting dumb drax and other known planet buster regularly.) hulk has yet to show any kind of power like that. is he capable of doing so, sure. but they would have to be fighting for a very long time for hulk to get at that level but then he would eventually get tired. point of the matter is, thanos more times than not has proven to be able to man handle hulk. heck, apocalypse has

why do i get the feeling that this will involve alot of PIS in favor of Hulk? Oh well, at least Loeb isn't writing it.

Because PIS is the only way for the Hulk to stand a chance against Thanos. But yes, Loeb isn't writting it. If he were, Thanos would have IG and would be fighting alongside Galactus, and Hulk would still beat them. But first, the Hulk would omega stomp some powerful super hero that could perfectly beat the hulk in many scenarios. If the comic book fans(apart from hulk fanboys) aren't hitting their head against the wall, it's not Loeb wirtting it.

i was scared as F when i saw the panel of red hulk riding on the surfer's board, ready to fight Galactus and talking smack to his face, i was like "no, no it can't be, Loeb's done some dumb things like rulk beating odinforce thor... but this... Lord have mercy on us" but then galactus just told him to F off, and i was at peace :)

I really like Jim Starlin.

But this story seems alot like the one where Superman was on Mongul's planet and was controlled to fight. Or when Ben 10 was on that space ship where he was formed to fight.

The story is just not original. Starlin should be more original.

Starlin created Thanos, so I would give it a chance. I don't think he will short change the power of Thanos. This is canon, the story was suppose to be part of the Savage Hulk series which collects stories from the Hulk's past. Marvel, I'm guessing later thought this would sell better as a stand alone limited series trying to cash in on the buzz about Thanos due to the movies. How about reading it before judging it.

Hahahaha, yeah, thankfully, the Rulk didn't do anything to Galactus. Although he defeatd surfer.... Well, loebforce. OF Thor was unneceptable as well, but at least galactus wasn't harmed. And Thor gave Rulk a beating after that, and then saved his butt from a black hole. Yet I don't understand how loeb wasn't fired yet, specially after ruining the ultimates. And I don't even read the ultimates. His negative feat was so huged that everybody knows. And then, he dares canceling avengers EMH. Ah, Loeb....

Hulk's snail trail will help him win this battle.

I ended up buying this issue, and all we got was a thanos in Hulks Mind speaking to him... not even a start of the battle.... i guess since i started i'll finish it. In all reality whether its savage hulk or Doc Green hulk, or any just about he'll give Thanos a real good ass whipping... while Thanos is super powerful, he doesn't have the infinity gaunlet any longer so. in no way shape or form will he just toss Hulk around like a rag doll.

I heard that Thanos and Hulk don't even interact until the end.
