There's no denying that Hickman's Secret Wars is a lot better than the past few recent Marvel events (that weren't written by Hickman) but dear God, IT TAKES WAY TOO LONG FOR THE ISSUES TO GET RELEASED.
I really enjoy it, the art is gorgeous..but it seems i should have picked some ties-in like Thors, A-Force or The Infinity Gauntlet to begin understanding what the f* is going on, why everybody is revolting now, and where did all the Ultimate and 616 survivors went (they showed us Thanos in prison last time, but how could we know what to reat to understand how he ended up here....)
I think the main story should be understandable by itself...

If the main story were understandable all on it's own this wouldn't be a crossover event.

Yea, but its probably going to sell anyway so I think that marvel doesn't care if its late or not.
The weird thing is that MARVEL has already started releasing issues/books for the post-Secret Wars Marvel U. I mean we're probably another two months before this thing wraps up and they've already started storylines that take place after Secret Wars.....idk, it's like they're dragging their feet with this event but at the same time couldn't wait to start the new storylines which may spoil the event that hasn't even ended yet!...The Hell MARVEL? O_o
They are definitely taking too long.... 3 more issues left ? While it's been a great story marvel releasing it is taking forever. I bet the secret wars main title wint be concluded til january....
@essenemg: yeah, ive read almost every tie in and pretty much none of them have been important to the main story. They just flesh out battleworld a little more. Is how Thanos got into jail important enough to expand upon in the main series and make it even longer, not really. The important part is what he did now that he was there. I think Secret Wars has done a great job of keeping the story contained in the main books. Only two tie ins that ive read have even dealt with the raft survivors and that was Starlord and Siege. Siege being the closest one to actually having impact on the core books.
Lovin' Secret Wars, but I do agree with you all that the books are taking too long to come out, the first few issues seemed to come out every few weeks, and now its closer to every 5 weeks. Get your act together Marvel.
@werst9: You are right, but a lot of the books are also introducing characters and elements into the new marvel. The bad guys from Renew Your Vows and Guardians of Knowhere have already shown up in the post Secret Wars books. So it looks like tie ins are more after the event than during it. Other than that, I want more Giga-Thing!!!!
This is very accurate, good eye. Also, I kind of stopped caring about this series. It was good, and very well may still be, but too much time has passed. Some of the new books are already on issue three. I don't feel it is necessary to read the series anymore.
Because it seems to me that we only get a new issue every 6 weeks or so.
Am I just imagining it, or is Marvel dragging this thing out as slowly and painfully as possible?
The mini series was meant to be a monthly book but to my knowledge it has been delayed twice, once for reasons i cannot recall but that delay forced several tie-ins to also get delayed and the second time had something to do with the addition of a 9th issue to the series.

Thors is a cop drama and has absolutely nothing to do with the main story featured in Secret Wars. The Infinity Gauntlet seems to contradict things established in Secret Wars but well have to see what happens in the final issue of that book, its possible Doctor Strange just didn't know there was more than one complete set of infinity stones on BattleWorld. I understand your frustration but trust me Secret Wars may be the most self contained event comic in years the fact that there are so few inconsistencies between the main book and the tie-ins is a miracle.
