This looks great and I'm glad to see him in his own ongoing. The artwork is superb and I can't wait to get this. Cyborg is such a great character and this series is long overdue.

Looks really cool! Is there going to be a variant cover for this issue? If so what is it going to look like, and who is the artist?

Can't wait to read this. I don't know a whole lot about him pre new 52, but he has been very underused since his New 52 debut and I hope this gets more people excited about his character. Hope we also get to see more of him interacting with the Metal Men like he did in the Justice League Forever Evil tie-in issues. Those were a lot of fun.

The art is amazing and I can't wait to see where this goes. This new look is fantastic and just the kinda thing I hope we see in the films. His first look in JL was too bulky, his second with that weird squared C symbol was trying too hard... this is the best he's EVER looked. Can't wait for this...

"No, Tekbreaker... You will die."

"It's a good day to die."

"KILL THEM ALL!"

That's one of the worst lines I've ever read, at least the art is awesome.

Are you suggesting that comic books aren't on the level of other literary mediums? You're uninformed if you think 'it's a comic book' is a good excuse for bad writing. There's absolutely no reason why Cyborg #1 can't be profound or nuanced.

This is for everybody whose been complaining about legacy characters, who wish that DC would focus more on their original minority characters instead of changing the white ones. Put your money where your mouth is. Here we have an original black character with a 30 year history with DC. If the comic is good, let DC know that you can support original minority characters, so that they wont have to resort to changing characters to achieve diversity. If you dont support comics like this, then you cant whine and bitch every time one of the white heroes gets changed.

@nightfang: I'm used to read comics that at least have better dialogs. I usually care more about the script over the dialog, but this line is really awful.

I never got Cyborg until the new 52 relaunched and revamped his look. Geoff Johns did a great job of fleshing out his character and i'm glad that he's finally getting a book of his own. Its true he has been around for decades, but sometimes it takes just the right timing to bring a hidden gem into the light. i can't wait!!!

Lowering your standards does the character and the series no favors. This is some very, very poor writing.

You've been spouting the exact same thing in IGN, typos and all. Is anyone paying you to engage in psy-ops? Because what you're saying is so many shades of hosed-up, you'd need a Crayola color kaleidoscope to even begin to absorb it. Essentially, you're saying people better support minority characters, if they don't want their favorite characters to be racebent. It's also ass-backwards thinking to the nth-degree, as the burden lies with people who are fans of said minority characters to support them, not those who couldn't care less how old character X of ethnicity Y is to read stories about him. And then to prop up "changing characters" as fair and justified game with the nebulous goal of achieving diversity is just the cherry on top of the agitprop cake.

Its about time. To be honest, Cyborg represents the hero for the modern age / future. especially when it comes to technology and our usage of it. I am picking this up regardless.

@self-dceit: First of all, thanks for being such a fan of mines that you follow my posts on other sites. My point was that DC and Marvel feel like original minority characters don't sell books, which is why in 4 years of the New 52, Cyborg was the only founding JLA member who didn't have his own series, while other members have had multiple books. Static Shock was predicted to fail even before the first book was released. By changing mantles, or changing races like DC did with Wally West, they feel like they can add minority characters, without having to go through the extra effort of creating or pushing original minority characters. This obviously is annoying to many comic fans, including myself, because its not creative and feels more like a gimmicky shortcut, and changes heroes that many people have grown up on. I NEVER said it was fair and justified game to achieve diversity, so you clearly put words in my mouth with that statement. What many people constantly bring up when speaking out against this, is why dont companies focus on the minority characters that they already have, or just create new ones. So I am specifically speaking to the people who constantly bring up that point whenever a race change happens. Put your money where your mouth is. Here is an original character that was not a legacy character, who was not previously a white character, who is finally getting his own series after 30 years. I specifically said IF THE COMIC IS GOOD, then support of the series will send a message to DC that racebending and mantle changes is not the only way that you can get more minority characters into the spotlight, and they can focus on the characters that they already have, or create new ones. Is that clearer for you?

You would be flattered, but copypasting this type of stuff in such a short period of time gets one noticed.

My point was that DC and Marvel feel like original minority characters don't sell books, which is why in 4 years of the New 52, Cyborg was the only founding JLA member who didn't have his own series, while other members have had multiple books.

It's not DC or Marvel who feel it: It's a demonstrable fact. And Cyborg still isn't acknowledged by a large segment of the readership as a founding member of the League, let alone a household name like his other peers. J'onn also didn't have his own series for the better part of his existence.

For the record, I like Cyborg and am ok with him being in the League. Just pointing out why things are the way they are.

Static Shock was predicted to fail even before the first book was released.

So was Prez and a number of other characters. What matters is that the companies do take chances, and should be commended for trying instead of pilloried for not trying as much as one would like them to, even if such attempts fly in the face of commercial reality. You don't blame a retail chain for not selling more mangosteen-flavored cola if not enough people buy it, do you? Or claim that, if only they made more of it and packaged it as some other brand it would sell?

By changing mantles, or changing races like DC did with Wally West, they feel like they can add minority characters, without having to go through the extra effort of creating or pushing original minority characters.

That's the creative equivalent of a handout; propping up one at the expense of another just because the latter can take it. It's a flawed premise that will always undermine said character. Ms. Marvel is how you do it properly.

This obviously is annoying to many comic fans, including myself, because its not creative and feels more like a gimmicky shortcut, and changes heroes that many people have grown up on. I NEVER said it was fair and justified game to achieve diversity, so you clearly put words in my mouth with that statement.

You didn't outright say it, no, yet your wording left little to the imagination. You certainly didn't seem opposed to the notion.

What many people constantly bring up when speaking out against this, is why dont companies focus on the minority characters that they already have, or just create new ones. So I am specifically speaking to the people who constantly bring up that point whenever a race change happens. Put your money where your mouth is.

You're missing an important point, however. The people who bring that up aren't clamoring for minority characters, nor committing to buying comics featuring same. The only ones who have to put money in mouths are those who claim that the market demands minority characters, especially those who seem to be under the impression that White audiences didn't go see Blade, or that Wonder Woman will only put female butts on seats.

Clearer, yes, especially in tone, even though you're still placing the onus on the wrong party.

@thecowwasdelirious: I still think this one is worse, at first I thought the mean robot wanted Tekbreaker to live, and out of the blue he said: KILL THEM ALL. Then I understood what was the writer's intention, but for me an ambiguous dialog is worse than a horrible pun.

@nightfang: In glossing over this script's flaws by saying you've read worse, and lowering the bar in what you can expect from comics by saying they're not Shakespeare (as if there were nothing between mediocrity and the Bard), you're disrespecting yourself, your money and your time just to support something out of principle.
