This looks so good. I'm very happy that Daisy is involved in the book. I hope she has a big role in the book.

IDK how I feel about Bucky going on intergalactic adventures. I can accept Dick Grayson as a spy, but this just feels so out of left field.

@captainmarvel4ever: Iron Man was in space for a while, Agent Venon is going to pal around with the Guardians. Sometimes change like this can be good. Gotta give it a chance and see if you like it.

@humanrocket: Yeah but those make some sense, Iron Man being a tech guy, and Venom having an alien on his skin. I'm not saying change is bad in any regard, I just think this isn't the best concept for a series involving this character.

I will try this, but Bucky not being written by Brubaker will be a tough task. No one else has even come close.

I've said it many times and I'll say it again. Marco Rudy is the pinnacle of comic book artists. His mastery of inventive layouts blows me away, and he's one of the few artists who completely legitimize comics as a form of media; doing things no other form could do.

I agree with you 100%. He is absolutely my favorite comic book artist right now and I think it's ridiculous that it's taken so long for him to be given an ongoing.

Would have made more sense and been a lot cooler to go with the face mask concept.

This is, without a doubt, the most eagerly awaited book of the year for me. The concept, the art, it's just phenomenal, & this preview helps seal the deal for me. Bucky is the perfect successor for Fury's job, & this proves it, & the best use of Daisy Johnson I've seen in a long time. Can't wait to see Bucky take a more prominent role in the MU- in the Marvel cosmos, literally! Kot is a great writer, who seems to understand Bucky's mind, & Rudy's art? It's freakin' fantastic, with touches of Steranko & Heavy Metal magazine mixed together. Every time I see that cover I think of how awesome it is, & how it makes me want to go to the guys on Epic Ink, Area 51 Tattoos, & get it freakin' tattooed on me, it's so awesome. I love Brubaker, & it's hard to follow his character-defining stuff- that's why I think this approach, which is completely different from Bru's grounded espionage thriller stories, will work. They're not trying to be Bru- Kot & Rudy are taking Bucky to different places, out of his element, putting him in the middle of the vast ocean that is the MU & showing how badass he is dealing with things unlike anything he's ever dealt with before, on unimaginable worlds & dimensions. It still has that pulpy element, & a trippy edge, & the narrative still feels like the Bucky Barnes I know & love. This can't get here fast enough!! I feel this series is going to meet our expectations & exceed them. First comic I've been truly excited about in a long time! Great to see this fantastic concept come out of the ashes of Original Sin(really didn't enjoy that event at all); this along with Angela: Asgard's Assassin are the best things to come out of that event.

I will try this, but Bucky not being written by Brubaker will be a tough task. No one else has even come close.

The fact that they start the issue off by quoting the whole "Cold War Theory" that Ed Brubaker used at the beginning of his Winter Soldier series, and then adding to it makes me excited.

People keep seeing this as just Bucky in space, acting like he's going to become the next Star-Lord or something. They get caught up with the whole space thing, but don't realize that this is still Bucky doing his thing, it's just on a much larger scope now than it was on Earth. Nothing's changed about his character, just his location.

Angela: Asgard's Assassin

I'm glad you brought that series up because it's made me wonder if we may see a crossover between Angela's new series and Bucky's in the future. Both are deadly assassins and will apparently be operating on a intergalactic level, so I could see them crossing paths eventually.

From what I can tell, all you need to know from Original Sin is the basic premise of Bucky's new 'job' as "The Man On the Wall."

I skipped Original Sin as well and wondered the same. Truth is though I'm not caring to much for the look of this series either but I love Bucky so it's tough not to pull it.

Is it just me, but does the dialogue here feel really unnatural and out of place? I do feel it's a little too comedically inclined for the tone of the story, and the alien species and situation feels way too silly for such a dark premise. Not to mention I don't care much for Daisy being there, as a big part of the initial premise here was Bucky going solo with this hard and brooding task.

I like how serious they are portraying Bucky. When he appeared on the New Avengers, he was used too much for comic relief. Other writers and artist also treat him like he's a teenager. Like in one avengers comic Hawkeye called him kid, and I think Bucky is the same age or even older than Hawkeye is.

I wonder if Bucky and Daisy might hook up and regret it or something. It would be a interesting drama point in the story, like Bucky isn't over Black widow yet.

Or if Daisy gets hurt, he'll feel responsible just like how he feels responsible for what happen to Natasha.

I'll be interested to see how their relationship progresses as well. I'm very happy that she is involved in the book. I got really excited whenever she went to get him in Secret Avengers . . . only to be disappointed that their story line was cut severely short, most likely because Spencer left for greener pastures in Avengers World.

@jonny_anonymous: Oh Yeah bro, good time to be a Bucky fan!

@war_killer: I agree! For me Bucky & Angela teaming up would be the perfect x-over. As you so masterfully stated, they're assassins operating on a universal level, two of the deadliest people in the universe(& it looks like Buck's really going to be proving how much of a badass he is here), so a x-over between them would be freakin' awesome & inevitable to me. I also thought about their connection to the All-New Avengers, & to me, with their current cosmic modus operandi, it makes more sense for Bucky & Angela to be working with the Guardians of the Galaxy, instead of the Avengers. At least that's my two cents. :P But a team- up would definitely fit the theme of both books!

Agreed. I don't mind it when guys like Nick Fury or Wolverine call him "kid," simply because they actually remember him when he was actually a kid. But yeah, I'd rather guys like Hawkeye just call him "Bucky."

I love the fact that, from how this preview appears, Bucky's much more than just a random killer, but is actually freeing the different worlds from dictatorships. He's not just a random assassin, and not even just defending the Earth, but actually going out and freeing other worlds as well. I hope we see more that in this series.

I'm sure there are alien women who are..."compatible" with Bucky. But yeah, I can see those two hooking up eventually.

Yeah, it would make more sense for them to team-up with the Guardians rather than Avengers. I still hope we'll see a crossover between Bucky's new book and GotG eventually, though hopefully after Bendis leaves...I do not want that man anywhere near Bucky. >_<

But I'm still holding out for a Winter Soldier/Rocket Raccoon team-up at some point. xD

@war_killer:

I hear ya bro. I don't want Bendis near Bucky either. (I love the Guardians, but will be glad when another writer takes over. Not Bendis's biggest fan at all.) I remember Bendis doing the story where Bucky said he killed Hitler in New Avengers- that's not even possible. Bucky would've been presumed dead & found by Karpov & co. during that time. In the MU, its clearly established that the original Torch killed Hitler...it just shows his total disregard for continuity. He's done this in this latest issue of GotG, really screwing up the continuity of the Thanos Imperative. His Bucky was so off, I felt the same way about Thor...the man just couldn't write Thor AT ALL.

Man, I'd love a Rocket/Bucky team up too! That would freakin' rock!! And a Bucky/Star-Lord team up would be awesome as well. Maybe it could happen in the pages of BB: TWS or Rocket Raccoon or the Legendary Star-Lord, in the hands of better writers. (I hope eventually that Dan Abnett comes to write the main GotG book or something. He could write a good Buck I think.)

@winter_kills: Yeah, his handling of Bucky in New Avengers was very poor. The only time I actually like him was when he had Bucky shot Madame Masque, freaking the crap out of Spider-Man. I liked it because it showed Bucky was different from Steve, doing things more stealthy and not wasting time by taking his opponent head on. But other than that I hated everything about his Bucky.

Like the part where he had Bucky pick up a gun, which I didn't mind, but then had Bucky try to convince everyone else to get a gun as well...even SPIDER-MAN! And then he had Bucky act all confused as to why they wouldn't take the guns he was offering. He also had Bucky acting surprised about Luke Cage and Jessica Jones' daughter living at his house, saying that he had never been that close to a baby before...which I find very hard to believe, mainly because he has a younger sister who I'm sure he saw when she was a baby. Ugh...it's depressing when I think about the first and only time Bucky actually becomes an Avenger and the whole time he was written by Bendis.

Honestly if Bucky and Star-Lord ever team-up, for some reason I just imagine Bucky punching Peter in the face. lol Nothing against Peter, I just feel Bucky wouldn't want to put up with his crap. xD I'd also like to see a follow up between Bucky and Gamora, seeing her reaction to him abandoning her in space during Original Sin.

@4thor: I think you're gonna love it, bro! And Bucky & Angela, two of the deadliest people in the universe- now both cosmic assassins- seems inevitable to me. Ok Marvel, make it happen!!

@war_killer: I definitely agree with all you mentioned about Bucky's time as an Avenger; you put it perfectly; it was a shame that the only time Bucky was an Avenger, as Captain America, he had to be written by Bendis. There were some odd moments, like you mentioned above, like him convincing others to pick up a gun, even Spidey, & the whole thing with Danielle(which as you said makes no sense, he had a baby sister, Emily). For the most part, Bendis either wrote him like he was just "there"(which happens to a lot of characters in team books written by Bendis, he isn't the team-book guy, unless it's street-level characters, then he's decent.) or he's kind of comic relief. (I did like during Siege, when Bucky lets Steve take the shield back, & Steve wonders what Buck is going to do, & he comes out with a big gun, that was pretty cool.)

LOL I was thinking that too if Bucky met Star-Lord! I an imagine him punching Quill in the face; as a fan of both characters(though Star-Lord it really developed recently; & through the DnA Annihilation/GotG books.) it would be so freakin' funny, Bucky's personality dealing with Peter's more reckless impulsive nature, & his unique form of "strategy" & "tactics" lol Oh man, I'd definitely love to see a follow-up with Gamora! It seems natural, even more so now that Bucky is going to be an assassin on a universal scale, & Gamora is considered the deadliest woman in the universe...would love to see how they resolve their past interaction- maybe a brief throwdown between these two deadly assassins & then an team up. Lots of potential for character interaction in Bucky's new role.
