This make me happy because I love all things Predator but sad because I'm pretty sure that one of the reasons they chose to make these books was because they knew they were gonna lose Star Wars, which just reminds me that Dark Horse doesn't own the rights to Star Wars anymore which makes me more sad.

I enjoyed Prometheus, but I feel the comic will help expand on that time in the universe. There were a lot of questions left unanswered and I hope the comic can expand on it. Over all though super excited for some of my favorite comics to come back.

Good! Dark Horse deserves to have a big franchise to lead the company the same way that Star Wars will cease to do.

Is this a separate continuity from the previous volumes of comics?

@maddpanda531: More than likely this is a separate continuity from the old one which was established 25 years ago. I've even asked Christopher Sebela, the writer for the AvP comics if they were going to be over-riding the old comics and knocking them out of canon. His answer was no, they were not knocking the old comics out of canon whatsoever.

Scott Allie has confirmed that this is a hard reboot. Everything in the last 25 years is pretty much being ignored and they're going to be doing something relatively new. Where they will be going with these new comics is hard to say but they are also not going to be revisiting characters like Machiko Noguchi or Broken Tusk, that much is certain.

They're using the films as a spring board for these new comics, but this reboot doesn't retcon the old comics, it just ignores them and does something completely new.

Think of it like this, we now have two Alien-Predator comic continuities to follow. Pick which one you want to follow because they're both canon. Unless Fox steps out and addresses the old comics as non-canon (which I highly doubt will happen since Fox likely doesn't care), this is pretty much the way things are. Pick between new and old which you wanna follow.. or both!

Win/Win situation if you ask me. If you don't like the new comics, stick with the old.. If you don't like the old comics, go with the new. If you like both, then you are a winner!

I'm looking forward to seeing how these titles will fare. Although I seem to be in the minority, I really enjoyed Prometheus and would like to see the rest of the storyline played out.

They all have potential, but I'd really love it if they made a great Predator comic in the vein of the 1st 2 movies. I want big knock-down drag-out fights with the Predator.

Prometheus is good if you watch it with only the sound effects and score, the dialogue ruined that film.

Okay seriously, Prometheus doesn't any sense in relation to the REST of Alien. There are way too many unanswered questions that even if answered wouldn't be sufficient.

AvP comics? That might even work. My brain melted into grilled cheese after watching AvP Requiem.

I agree, I loved Prometheus and am really excited to see the universe and lore fleshed out more, and the connection to the xenomorphs. I love the old comics as well, and read alot of em as books in like 4th grade and up, that's when I really got into the Alien and Predator movies and the rest is history, lol. Can't we to read all these new reboots.

The creators have stated that the new continuity will neither reference nor retcon the old continuity.

I pretty much agree with this, not to mention given the fact that the creative teams suggests that they are ignoring the old continuity and starting a new one, which of course uses the films as a spring board (obviously they have to) in order to create a new and different mythology and continuity. The Editor in Chief's comments only further corroborates this idea. It's a reboot, and Dark Horse's editor in chief has stated so blatantly, rather unapologetically as well.

The creative teams and the editor have said that this was a hard reboot, meaning that the twenty five years of storyline is being ignored. It won't acknowledge it, nor contradict it-- or even so much as retcon it. For the old comics to be deemed non-canon, Twentieth Century Fox would have to declare it so but the studio which owns the franchises likely won't care to jettison them out of canon. Twentieth Century Fox has always been flexible when it comes to their franchises canon-- and they all seem to follow divergent timelines anyway. This even includes the films.

So now we have two Alien-Predator comic continuities. From now on, debates with Alien-Predator characters will have to specify which continuities they are following.

I thought Prometheus was an a well done movie that didn't answer questions because we weren't supposed to know. It's not like in the first Alien movie they explain everything...we just assume that since it is a prequel that it fits like a puzzle piece, but those that enjoyed the movie discovered it was a whole new puzzle.

I want to see what they do in taking the series forward in the new books, but hopefully it meshes with whatever the sequel to Prometheus will do (if there ever is one). Tired of AVP anything. They should stay in their respective universes and develop there rather than crossing each other and recycling material each movie and book. I would love to also see If the Alien books move well into the future. That would be great.

All these books have sooooooo much potential!! Good for dark horse. I hope they come out soon the wait is killing me!
