A mystery man who doesn't reveal his loyalties named Gideon Malick is coming to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The new recurring character will be played by Powers Boothe (Deadwood, Sin City) as revealed by Marvel. Boothe appeared in The Avengers as a member of the World Security Council.

“Gideon is incredibly menacing and in him we have a character that even the stone-cold Grant Ward would fear,” said Executive Producer/Head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb. “Only someone of Powers’ caliber could deliver the type of ominous and powerful performance we needed.”

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. appears on ABC on Tuesdays at 9PM/8C.
