Patty Jenkins No Longer Directing Thor 2?

Who's going to direct it, now?

Time to start your fantasy crew call again. Deadline’s reported that Patty Jenkins has stepped on out of the Thor 2 director’s chair and the search for a replacement has begun in earnest, as the flick’s already locked into the very precise 10/15/13 release date. It looked like Ms. Jenkins was going to make a rather significant stylistic jump with this job, as her most notable prior gigs were on the pilot of the mystery show The Killing and the true crime drama, Monster. Though, interestingly enough, this report says she may end up working on another of the superhero flicks that Marvel’s got on its docket.

This is also the first time I’ve noticed that the movie’s release date had been shifted to Thanksgivingtime. I’ll bet that’s a conscious effort to give Iron Man 3 some breathing after its May 3 release date that year. THOR 1 and CAPTAIN AMERICA did come out pretty close together this summer, and it’d seem like putting one Marvel movie out in the Spring and then the next out in the Fall would solidly avoid any precarious overlap.

Like I said, the fantasy crew call is back on again for THOR 2. Who would you like to direct it, since Kenneth Branagh has moved on to other endeavors? Me, I’d go for the colossal fantasy longshot and ask for John Milius.
