New Wonder Woman Costume Revealed

Get ready for another edition of the Great Wonder Woman Costume Debate to begin.

The last time Wonder Woman got a new costume (pants and a jacket), there was quite a commotion. People are often resistant to change. It turns out in WONDER WOMAN #41, on sale in June after Convergence, she'll be getting a new look. HitFix has revealed the solicit for the issue.

WONDER WOMAN #41

Written by MEREDITH FINCH

Art and cover by DAVID FINCH and

JONATHAN GLAPION

THE JOKER Variant cover by BRIAN BOLLAND

On sale JUNE 17 • 32 pg, FC, $3.99 US RATED T

Retailers: This issue will ship with two covers. Please see the order form for details.

A daring new direction begins with the arrival of a brand-new villain! But while he may be new to us, he’s not new to the world he seeks to tame. And speaking of villains, Donna Troy’s quest to destroy Wonder Woman ratchets up another gear (if that’s even possible!), while the games of the Gods bring dark portents to the ultimate Amazon!

Our immediate reaction is it has a lot of red. It really has a patriotic feel to it. Hopefully those wrist spikes are removable. Change is fine. There's no reason Wonder Woman shouldn't have more than one outfit. There's no reason she has to wear the same exact outfit every single time she goes out. We particularly dig Jason Fabok's recent weak in the pages of JUSTICE LEAGUE.

No Caption Provided

Hopefully we haven't seen the last of that.

What do you think of the new outfit?

Wonder Woman needs to be sexualised. Female protagonists usually can't rely on their characters to remain interesting enough, this is a reflective of society reality.

Beauty, femininity, sexuality are the main values which women are, and should be judged on. That's just how it is

just like penis size is what a man should be judged on? what are you 12?

Men are judged by Sucess

clearly something you don't have since you can't even spell it

Edited : Men are judged by success, character and intellect

men are also judged by their beauty and sexuality just as women are their success, character and intellect.

okay. so the overall idea from people is that they like the costume with everyones biggest complaint being the boots and the spikes. which makes sense so DC all you have to do is two things and look at it logically.
1. Lose the spikes, its too much over kill for her, she does not need them especially if she has super strength, sword and lasso. so dial it back a notch.

2. Shorten the boots a tad. I mean what is the point of Thiegh high boots if they are not even armored. at least with Sif they were armored boots. if they are not then just trim them down to regular boot size they will still look fine with the pants on.

Dopest costume yet!!!!

It's funny how the people that like it we've never seen on the Wonder Woman board before.

That doesn't have to do with anything...

Yes it does. They obviously aren't regular fans, so they have no interest in, or affection for the standard WW costume.

If you are a demigoddess with superhuman strength/durability, you can pretty much get away with wearing whatever you want. Adding extra layers of skin-tight clothing won't help much.

Not to mention wearing those over tights.

Comics tend to suspend belief; women superheros have been doing it since the beginning and should the stop; the recent trend to the contrary should be reversed.

@csg_cl: Well one of Marvel's many knock-offs of Superman, Gladiator used to rock thigh-high boots, bicep-high gloves, a cape with an up-raised collar, mohawk and sideburns. Though that get-up for Superman wouldn't look any more ridiculous than Superbro (what we're getting in June).

@crossbolt: Actually it would make more sense for a female super hero to wear a battle skirt instead of pants so that their movement isn't restricted or hampered. Jason Faboks design is the best portrayal of that so far.

@javier_pcl: Can you shop-out those spikes and put the pants and sleeves back on? Going back to silver over the gold was a radial improvement but those spikes... I can't handle them and I think the pants and sleeves are a must with a suit this clunky.

@saren: Holy $#!T! You are 100% correct.

That said, the costume's a bit busy, but, like the Sif's two-color scheme, if they cut it down a bit, it'll be perfect.

I'm sorry what? So skin tight spandex is going to hamper her movement more than a battle skirt? And how is this specific to female super heroes? If a battle skirt works better than pants, then not encourage all heroes to wear battle skirts? Shouldn't full unrestricted movement trump all? Since that seems to be what you're going for.

@galacticfork: Yes it would. A battle skirt wouldn't restrict leg movement at all. What purpose would skin tight spandex serve aside from covering more skin, since I doubt it would have any protective qualities? Especially since the heroine has a level of invulnerability. Why would we encourage all heroes to wear them? My response to the other user was in the context of what heroines are more likely to wear if they were in real-life. And pride, culture and mind-set would determine whether or not a male hero in the real world would prefer pants or a skirt. But in all honesty, a male hero in the real world would probably choose pants for obvious reasons.

Resistant to change, simply? No, you know it's more than that, it's more PC BS, G-Man, so don't be naive. Time for people to wake up and realize that people who have a political agenda are heavily infiltrating the comicbook industry.

love it! only minor detail complaint i can think of is that star on her side could probably go. the wrist blades might be excessive, but who really cares? variety is always nice imo. i'm glad she's more armored. (i know she doesn't "need" armor, but she makes it look good)

y'all need to chill and accept that she doesn't need to be sexualized to an amazing and badass female super hero.

That's not armor. They just put normal cloth on her arms, legs and chest to cover up her skin. Which is fine I guess but pretty unnecessary. It's not as if Wonder Woman of all people should be ashamed of her body enough to cover it up. I just wish more male heroes followed Wonder Woman's example of not covering up head to toe.

Not really. Appalling is always synonymous with awful and terrible - unless you're referring to an archaic definition, which, would be kinda silly given the context.

Love it all except the high boots that go above the knee. Otherwise, it really seems to fit the popular legging and under-armor fashion trends.

If they did a combination of Fabok's and Finch's design it would be amazing. I'm not a fan of the gold, they should have stayed with the silver coloring for the metal parts of her armor. I hope the wrist blades are retractable too. Having them out at all times would seem kinda silly. Aside that I like the new costume.

I like the costume, except for the thigh-high boots, and the blades coming out of her bracers. That's just silly. Why on earth would she need those, unless she's trying to be yet another Wolverine knock-off/wannabe? o.O

But I also really liked the black jacket and leggins look we got a few years ago. She should've stuck with that, honestly.
