New Superman, Batman & Justice League Movie Rumors

Could Warner Brothers be prepared to crank up the heat for the DC Cinematic Universe?

There was an early report that an early cut of Man of Steel was phenomenal. There is a lot riding on this movie not only as a lead in to a future franchise for Superman but also as the lead in for other DC characters and the attempt to bring the Justice League of America to the big screen. While there has been some recent worries over the script for the Justice League film, a new rumor may justify why the possible early draft of the script has been scrapped.

No Caption Provided

Latino Review is reporting that Christopher Nolan is now taking over the DC characters at Warner Bros. This gives him the final say in anything that is to be done on the big screen. This means that as with Man of Steel, he would be overseeing and producing the Justice League film. It's also reported that Zack Snyder would be a producer and possible the director for the Justice League.

But that's not all. They're also saying that this could lead to the return of Christian Bale as Batman. It might seem hard to swallow but Bale was quoted in an interview saying he would love the challenge of making a fourth movie work if Nolan came to him with a script and said there was another story to tell.

Of course none of this is confirmed at this point. It all makes sense in that Warner Bros. will definitely want to ensure a strong and profitable franchise to compete with Disney's The Avengers.

We'll have to wait and see if they will try to bring Christian Bale back. He's proven financially at the box office he has what it takes to bring life to the character. Having him alongside other superheroes could be odd but if anyone could make it work, it would be Christopher Nolan.

@kapitein_zeppos: Batman really wouldn't help the JL if they are using Bale. He doesn't make his own stuff, he isn't as smart, he isn't really as of a strategist, his weapons suck but he could fund for the watchtower.

@Stormbox: I'm talking about in the 2000s. Most of those weren't anything special. The Amazing Spiderman was so boring and annoying. Most of those don't even compare to DCs video games. Movies are still mainstream but I would rather have 5 amazing tv shows then 5 great movies. If WB just put DC in charge of movies they would be so much better. We all have our opinion on tv shows and people like Arrow and Smallville. When WB does make a great movie it becomes legendary. WB I think takes to much risks.

If anything I want a Batman that can actually do some martial arts. Seriously, we're talking about a guy who has pushed his body to it's physical peak and has mastered damn near every form of Martial arts known to man and I have yet to see a film that has Batman doing some honest to god Martial Arts.

@lilben42: Nolan Batman worked fine in his own movie series, but I think it's time we got another Batman if they want to do a JLA film. I'm fine with an Arkham Batman. I want to see the athletic, master detective Batman who is really larger than life, not BaleBat who couldn't find a clue if it was nailed to his forehead.

@lilben42: Smallville wasnt interesting, it was crap. Superman fights all his villains and meets virtually every hero of dc (except for those three...) before becoming superman, wtf

Arrow is a series with crappy actors and mediocre writing

What do you mean "not as many movies"? These are all of warner bros f*ck ups:

  • Supergirl
  • Superman iii
  • Superman iv
  • Superman lives (never came out but god was that horrible)
  • Batman forever
  • Batman and robin
  • Steel
  • Catwoman
  • Superman returns (debatable but most of the audience didnt approve)
  • Jonah hex
  • Green lantern

Also, the batman vs superman movie sounded like sh!t too

I guess you have a point with the cartoon argument, but cartoons clearly havent made dc more popular than marvel, movies still are the mainstream entertainment media

And about videogames, well...

  • All the marvel vs capcom games (dont like them but they are popular)
  • X-men legends
  • X-men legends ii
  • Ultimate spider-man
  • Hulk ultimate destruction
  • Spider-man 2
  • Marvel ultimate alliance
  • X-men origins wolverine
  • Spider-man shattered dimensions
  • The amazing spider-man

This has made my day!!! :))))

The DC movies would be in great hands if they gave it to Christopher Nolan!

I think Mr. Nolan's vision would work w/ a Justice League movie; it's not about making them "realistic", u cannot make superheroes realistic because at the end of the day it's still about a guy who flies around in spandex and cape. What Mr. Nolan did w/ the Dark Knight Trilogy was to make Gotham feel real, a city u can believe is real, the characters are more grounded but that does not make it realistic.

I believe Justice League needs to separate themselves from the Avengers for it to be taken more seriously and not just a copycat.

I hope it's true!

@Stormbox: Smallville was interesting and Arrow has its episodes. It seems that WB is going for serious nowadays. JL/JLU, Static Shock, Teen Titans, Batman: TAS and Superman:TAS etc... were all great shows, if Disney was in charge, it would have been way to kiddish for me to watch as a kid, and it wouldn't habe the same feel. Oh yeah and the video games wouldn't be as good either. WB hasn't really made alot of DC movies so you can't really judge compared to Marvel. Sure the movies might be good but everything else wouldn't be and WB seems to be taking DC more seriously now I don't think they will make the same mistakes. Especially if these rumors of Nolan overseeing everything are true. I wouldn't say because of Nolan, Zack and David G. usually have serious movies.

@lilben42: Smallville was crap and arrow is average at best. We havent seen shield yet, although i already have the feeling it will be better than arrow

The only "serious and intense" dc movies wb has ever produced are the batman movies, everything else has been downright goofy. Man of steel looks like the exception but thats because of nolan, not wb. Same can be said about the aforementioned batman movies

@kapitein_zeppos: I don't want Bale involved just because I heard the Batman reboot was going to be more like Arkham games and I was excited if it was true. But the public knows Bale and loves him they would get alot of money for just putting him in there. They can make Batman train harder because everyone just figured out they're superhumans out there. Or something.

You want to see Kung Fu Batman who was hardly competent to beat up a few thugs ? Athletic Batman who could barely make it from one roof to another. Detective Batman who was constantly running after the facts and Planning ahead Batman being played like a sucker by every bad guy he came across ? The crybaby Batman who quit when his girlfriend got whacked ? And you want that BINO to go toe to toe with the likes of Sinestro, Darkseid, Monarch or the Anti Monitor ? Or does Nolan plan to make even more baroque and convoluted street level mega villains whose plans only work in a carefully scripted film ?

I have a feeling JLA will bomb and DC will run back crying with nose full of snot to square one and crank out more Batman films, while the rest of their portfolio languishes. I bet they will even blame us, the public for "not getting it".

The Nolan films are ok in their own right, but I seriously doubt you can wrench his Batman into a greater DC continuity, you need a far greater Batman than the barely competent street level Batman we got from him.

Yes to Nolan Godfathering the DCMU. Yes to Snyder directing the JL movie. NO to Bale. Why? Because the minute I see Batman Growling at the rest of the league, that's the minute I loose my Sh!t and piss my pants.

Gina Carano as Wonder Woman

Alex O’ Loughlin as Batman (FTW)!!!

Philip Winchester as Aquaman

David Giuntoli as Green Lantern: Hal Jordan

Ryan Gosling as Barry Allen: The Flash

Henry simmons as J’onn J’onzz / Martain Manhunter

Fine, as long as the next Bane can use Venom and Joker doesn't use make up, I'm fine.

Oh, and as long as not EVERY movie is a freaking melodrama, I mean, a Batman movie should be dark, but a Flash or GL movie should be more energetic and lighthearted, I don't want all my heroes to go through an existential crisis.

Do not want. I'm ok with a Superman/Batman movie but I don't want Bale back it would ruin the already average ending of TDKR. Plus I'm getting tired of gritty/dark re boots. I just think Nolan should move on from super heroes TDK was amazing but everything else was incredibly average also Bale batman voice needs to never come back.

I didn't enjoy the Batman movies because of Christian Bale, I liked them because of everyone else in them! Heath Ledger overshadowed him in "The Dark Knight" and Anne Hathaway and Tom Hardy over shadowed him in "The Dark Knight Rises". I found him as Batman to be boring :P So yeah, he isn't necessary for the Justice League, in fact, it should be a separate movie instead of copying The Avengers. :/

Why the Justice League doesn't fit before, during, or after TDKR:

"Before" doesn't work because in Nolan's realistic world there would be no reason Flash or Superman wouldn't interfere in Gotham while the Joker was terrorizing citizens. I would really doubt that they have a mission taking up the entire week. And if they did, it would be all over the news as to why. This is not the comics.

"During" TDKR makes no sense because Gotham was held hostage for MONTHS and the Justice League heroes did nothing, okay... Real wonderful heroes.

"After" doesn't work because Bruce has nothing left of a knee, no fortune, a revealed identity, and no base of operations. He's moved past being Batman, so Alfred would be pissed if he became Batman again. Not to mention, nothing he does is superhuman. If the Justice League needs help from mortal men, they would sooner ask the CIA or a swat team if we are keeping this realistic. Flash doesn't consider himslef a vigilante and would not want to be with someone accused of murder. And I don't see a team with Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, Aquaman, and Cyborg needing Batman's help in the real world.

PS: Did you see the part of TDKR when JGL was ambushed multiple times and was totally incompetent in combat. He has no training. It would take him 8 years of training at least to get on Bruce's level.

And Bruce Wayne Batman is too battered to be of any use to anyone. Batman needs a reboot.

This amongst other posts sums up why a Nolanized Justice League film is not a good idea. JGL would not be a good Batman and it baffles me as to why Bruce picked him to be his replacement. Besides Nolan and Bale's return would diminish the Batman trilogy which is something the Nolan fans are majorly overlooking. I liked the first 2 films but Nolan is overrated IMO and TDKR was mediocricity at its finest. But I digress, WB need to pick someone who can give the Justice League film a suitable flair to make it original and different to The Avengers.

Let Bale be done. If you're going to continue the Nolanverse Batman, it should be JGL in the suit as a sort Grayson-esque Batman. If you're going to ignore the continuity of the Nolanverse Batman, then you should just cast someone new to avoid confusion.

Bale back as Batman? Fine, but I'm more worried about the glaring tone shift!!!! I mean, there were no superpowers in Nolan's Bat-verse!!! They even made a parody of what would happen if Superman showed up in Nolan's universe!!

This has always been a silly argument. Just because powers or other heroes are not seen or even alluded to in the bale batman movies does not mean they don't exist. Look at it this way, there are plenty of batman stories that don't mention other heroes, don't have anything unrealistic in them....they just have batman solving a mystery...all humans. It doesn't mean the more fantastical stuff ceases to exist....it's just irrelevant to the story being told.

That said...I do not want Bale back as Batman and I definitely don't want Nolan in charge of the Cinematic DCU.

I don't want characters who are nothing like there comic book counterparts, immersed in a world that is like ours in terms of realism, and yet somehow more ridiculous in what is allowed to transpire. I want a Batman who is a detective, wearing the grey, working with the other heroes to combat a greater threat.

Can you imagine a Nolanized Green Lantern or Flash? Ugh!

So we are going to have a Justice league movie that has nothing to do with comic cannon? so is flash just going to be a real fast track athlete, wonder-woman will be a former female pro-wrestler, aquaman will be micheal phelps, and superman will be one of those guys who can rip telephone book in half wearing a rocket pack? oh and he'll be from a dfferent country to give him that alien feel? Can't forget a batman who has to rough up his voice to sound silly, even when the person talking to him knows who he is.

I think it's hilarious that Nolan keeps saying he's done, and WB keeps shoveling money at him. If this is true, it's worrisome in the long run that they are so dependent on a single person to keep their film franchises in order, but in the short term that would definitely be the best thing for salvaging the Justice League film.

Christopher Nolan... he ruined Batman.. made him look like some weak guy who dress's like a bat. Batman sould be jumping off rooftops throwing batarangs moveing fast, Christopher Nolan's Batman moved so slow and his punchs...lets not talk about that.. the only good thing was the Joker. I mean Bane was good too but not that good + the way they build up Banes charcter the whole movie then throwing him aside like he was a regular soldier.. wtf.
