Marvel's 'Damage Control' Coming to Television

ABC has ordered a pilot for the half hour comedy.

No Caption Provided

Earlier this week, we discussed one of Marvel's under-utilized teams: Damage Control. The gods of television must have been listening because according to Deadline, Damage Control is getting their own television show on ABC.

This half an hour, live-action comedy series received a pilot commitment from ABC and is being developed for TV by Ben Karlin, formally of Daily Show and Colbert Report. The show will follow the team of overworked and underpaid clean up crew from the Marvel universe who has to deal with the aftermath of all these gigantic battles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Karlin will write the script for the pilot. He will also executive produce alongside David Miner and Jeph Loeb.

We'll keep you updated as more develops about this project.

The only way I see this show working on a conceptual level is as a standalone product separate from the MCU, as it stands right now there just isn't enough super human city wrecking violence in the MCU to warrant a company like Damage Control.

Agreed and handing it to ABC is a bit of a risky move. Netflix handled Daredevil really well but that is because Netflix has freedoms tv does not.

Sure there is. All they need to do is start this show in Phase 1 and move from there. There was plenty of damage from Iron Man to Ant-Man. Not to mention Daredevil and Agents of SHIELD and by the time this would get released Jessica Jones and maybe Luke Cage. They also don't even have to reference anything they could simply say Iron Man stopped a bank robbery or something and they go clean that up.

@abdullahzubair: I do not think "Comic Book" means superhero TV shows and movies. Kingsman is a comic book series that was adapted as a movie, and it had nothing to do with superheroes. I believe that comic books is just another way for people to tell stories.

I remember when AOS debuted and everyone hated it saying "who wants to watch a show about the people who clean up after battles?"...

...And here we are.

Oh boy, this will go head on with DC'S Show.

Yeah, that was my first thought as well, although I was a bit confused because when I saw the headline I thought, "wait, isn't DC doing a show like this, too?" I read the Damage Control books back in the 90's and along with DC's Major Bummer these were two of the best short lived and underutilized series from that decade. I think they could make good TV shows. I just hope Damage Control isn't done in the "mockumentary" style of The Office or Parks & Rec. We already have The Muppets series parodying that now.

Weird that Marvel and DC are pitching the same kind of TV show at the exact same time.

@inferiorego:

First: on topic Damage Control sounds fun.

Nice, I'll read it. Also I think Ravage 2099 would be good to.

Are we thinking Mockumentary style on this show? Because I think that could work.

So....what DC and NBC are already doing.

I know Damage Control is an actual Marvel run, but NBC already announced their work-place comedy. A little slow there ABC.

But Damage Control will probably be more successful, because NBC has a habit of dropping shows after only one season (*coughs* Constantine *coughs*)

It has potential, but I don't exactly care for this. Will check it out as always though.

I also find it funny how Marvel and DC constantly have to battle over everything. Not everything is a contest.

I like Damage Control and think it's an awesome concept, but for some reason I'm having big doubts about this series.

Ha, that's so funny. I guess I'm watching, although I'm not so sure how good a show this would be.

The arch nemesis for damage control should be the wrecking crew.

Wow... weird timing

Did you know about this Mr. Elfring?

Completely coincidental. However, I'd like to believe that Disney is making decisions based on our articles.

Here comes a piece about X-Men 2099.....

hahahaha! While you're at it, scribe something about Night Thrasher
