Marvel's 'Damage Control' Coming to Television

ABC has ordered a pilot for the half hour comedy.

No Caption Provided

Earlier this week, we discussed one of Marvel's under-utilized teams: Damage Control. The gods of television must have been listening because according to Deadline, Damage Control is getting their own television show on ABC.

This half an hour, live-action comedy series received a pilot commitment from ABC and is being developed for TV by Ben Karlin, formally of Daily Show and Colbert Report. The show will follow the team of overworked and underpaid clean up crew from the Marvel universe who has to deal with the aftermath of all these gigantic battles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Karlin will write the script for the pilot. He will also executive produce alongside David Miner and Jeph Loeb.

We'll keep you updated as more develops about this project.

Completely coincidental. However, I'd like to believe that Disney is making decisions based on our articles.

Here comes a piece about X-Men 2099.....

@inferiorego: Talks about Damage Control almost on a weekly basis so it's not that surprising a tv show is announced at the same time :P

Not interested in it primarily because of the creators. I can already see the type of show and humor they'll go with. Not interested which is a shame because otherwise I would be into it.

Yah, uhh copycat much? I will say the only thing that would separate this this is connected to the MCU and they are specifically cleaning up different major battles that have already happened in the MCU. I would like the powerless series to be connected to the Flash & Arrowverse or the DC Expanded Universe(movies).

Marvel must have a lot of money to burn we are getting a lot of product from them. They are supposed to be moving forward with the Agents of Shield Spin Off Show: Marvel's Most Wanted.

So what you're saying is that Marvel is copying DC who copied Marvel's idea?

Sort of makes sense though if AOS is going the more super route with Inhumans that leaves the more spy oriented stuff open.

Well obviously Marvel had the comic first I guess, but the fact that the shows are coming out around the same time? I'm sorry I don't believe in coincidence on that level. Yes I think Marvel got wind of DC's show and said "Huh hell we got this product already to go and we can connect ours to the MCU. YOLO!!! Give the green light!!!"

Naw I feel like they've been wanting to do Damage Control for a while it's been referenced in the movies, on the animated shows, and in the games.

@feartheliving: Yes I know it's been in the games and tv shows(cartoons). I saw the episode of Spiderman Unlimited where there is a direct story line tied into Damage Control.

Loading Video...

That doesn't mean they were going to green light this. I find it hard to believe that suddenly they want to do their show right as DC is about to do theirs as a pure coincidence. Copycat movies or TV Shows are pretty common in Hollywood I can only summarize it's because someone gets wind of someone doing an idea and the competition says"Hey we can do that and make it better".

The only way I see this show working on a conceptual level is as a standalone product separate from the MCU, as it stands right now there just isn't enough super human city wrecking violence in the MCU to warrant a company like Damage Control.
