Marvel Teases "The End" of the Ultimate Universe

Probably about time... going to actually be sad to see that Nick Fury go for good. We all know Spider-Man will carry over in 616.

It wouldn't surprise me. I mean I'm a total Ultimate fanboy and it was what brought me back to comics but they have relaunched it a number of times in the last few years and none of them have been that successful. It also really doesn't help that the stuff that made th UU good in the beginning was put in to the movies and then incorporated it in to the main universe.

I have no dog in this fight. I haven't read an Ultimate title in years. But I know how much people love the Miles Morales book. I say keep the Ultimate Universe around, keep publishing Ultimate Spider-Man and if that's the only title in the line, so be it.

X-Men Legends and Ultimate X-Men got me into comics.

I love Ultimates 1 & 2, Ultimate Fantastic Four 1-18, and all of Ultimate Spider-man.

The Ultimate Galactus Trilogy was cool.

Miles Morales is epic.

The end of the Ultimate Universe would be a sad day.

It is irony that Marvel try to eliminate and erase all of their Multiverse (for example looks at Hickman Avengers storyline where they try to destroy other universe and now looks like they gonna destroy Ultimate Universe) and yet DC try to expand their Multiverse and create many more universe

Damn. The sad part is that everybody in the entire universe was just two weeks from retirement.

This raises more questions about the recent events of Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man.

Not that it wasn't expected, you can't really hold another universe series with a single title no matter how good it is, I'm talking about Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-man, after cancelling everything else.

The only thing I want to know is WHY they didn't include Peter Parker on the cover. He's the one that started the Ultimate books, surely he should be there at it's end.

Also with Black Cat on the cover, will we be seeing her again, she been gone from the book as long as has been + a few months.

Honestly, I'll wait till the summer to see if they really "end" the Ultimate universe, because I was under the impression that it was supposed to end with Cataclysm, and apparently it didn't so. I'll wait till next summer to see what happens, and in my opinion that's a long ways away.

Wait, is this like The End comics we used to have? The ones with post-apocalyptic Hulk, aging Frank Castle, and HOTU Thanos?

@boynerdgeek: personally I hate the multiple universe stuff because I'm invested in the main universe and the characters that inhabit it. I only see multiverse things as good for retconning things.

Looks to me like Marvel is gearing up for a "Crisis" type relaunch event. Makes sense. It's the only thing they haven't copied from DC. :o)

Didn't they just go through this whole "Is the Ultimate Universe ending" with Cataclysm? Now I have to hope the 1610 universe doesn't end and that Marvel decides to actually give the universe some decent writers, artists, and storylines afterwards

this is getting ridicules, its bad enough Marvel is spamming poorly made events for years now (forcing you to grin and bear it)

but now they are hyping up, who knows what, with all these teasers of old events for next year. considering their track record, what EVER they are planning, it just looks bad, I might drop my last Marvel Titles before Summer of 2015 at this point.

i like the ultimate universe more than 616, its a shame to see it go.

I'm sure that was actually the case, I think the last few big events in the UU like Ultimatum and Cataclysm were actually meant to end the universe it's just marvel chickened out when it came to the end and tried to see if they could milk just a little bit more.

Hmm who knows. There were rumors and teasers that implied it would end with Cataclysm. If this does end, we know we won't be getting a Spider-men 2 (though does it really matter with Spiderverse happening?). I know people have wanted Miles to go over to the main universe, but part of what I like about Miles is the world he's in. I like that he struggles with his father not caring for mutants or those with super powers, his friends and being in a world where he has to live up to the reputation of a hero who died protecting the city. Moving him would just get rid of all the things that interest me about him. Though I can see them shelfing the universe or getting rid of it as Miles book seems to be the only one selling. They seem to be running out of ideas of what to do with it.

This is the first teaser with "Issue 1" written on it. Might mean something.

I think this'll just be one of those stupid continuity reboots, so that new fans can jump in easier. Or ending Ultimate & creating a new Ultimate Ultimate. Or maybe they'll just fold in ideas & concepts into the main 616 universe. After all, thats what the movies do. Use elements from both. But as they make more movies & they get better & better, the main 616 comics will change to reflect them.

Hopefully it ends. The ultimate universe was a good thing, but now it's a shadow of its former self. Just bring Miles to 616 Earth, and lay it to rest.

Ultimatum, Cataclysm, Death of Peter Parker. Ultimate Marvel had it's three strikes. It's long been the end for me.

Go back to the beginning. I think the first 165 issues or so of Ult Spider-Man are good. Ultimates 1-2 as well. Ult FF and X-Men are hit and miss. Anything after Ultimatum should have a ymmv sticker on it, though I did like most of the Ultimates stuff after.

I wonder if they'll actually go through with it this time. This is the second Ultimate Universe event in very recent memory that is calling for "the end." I have to imagine after the terrible Ultimate line relaunch they may actually go through with it.

I grew up with the Ultimate verse, so I'm sad to see it go, but you know what? It's been on life support ever since Death of Spiderman. The first tumor went in when they shuffled off Hickman to the Avengers and put that hack Humphries to butcher his ending, and it's been downhill ever since. I think Bendis actually wanted to kill it with Cataclysm, but for what ever reason it didn't come together. Now you have one book carrying the universe, part time.

I'd rather end it and port Miles and Co over to 616 then drag it the mud any longer. Leave my pleasent memories of Ultimate Spider-Man #33 being my first comic i ever purchased with my own money.

That's an incredibly good point. I noticed it, but didn't think much of it until you pointed it out. All the others just had the title and release date/time, nothing to indicate they were a series/mini-series. What's also worth noting is that in the Secret Wars teaser, Miles is the only one from the Ultimate Universe there. I hope this doesn't turn into something where we have representatives from each universe fighting for their own universes survival.

I like miles but it might be a mistake to bring him to the main universe. We're already getting silk and spider-gwen solo books. I also have a suspicion that they're going to use spider-verse to bring back superior spider-man. the main universe is getting flooded with spider characters as is.

Two things: I think that Miles Morales would be good for the main Marvel universe.

Also, does Sony own movie rights to Miles? Because he could be their work around to get a Spider-Man into the MSU. They could even get Donald Glover to play him.

Aside from Miles Morales currently... The rest of the Ultimate Universe can go plug a hole!

I don't want miles morales in 616, leave him be in his own universe. The writer gets more creative freedom that way to tell their stories.

Plus, there's too many spider people in 616 already.

In any case I think we all knew this was coming, if Marvel does reboot parts of the Ultimate Universe will likely blend with the new Universe.
