Marvel Reveals "Divided We Stand" Image

The recent Marvel NOW! teasers have been leading up to this.

Marvel has released a series of teasers featuring two different characters in with a shattered portion in the middle (all with art by Mike Deodato). The pairings have been a little odd, and we've wondered what it all means. Today we have another image that shows the divide a little clearer. It appears there could be some consequences following the events of Civil War II within the Marvel Universe.

In the new image, we see the divide. (You can check out a higher res image here). It's interesting to note that on the left we have characters whose morals are sometimes questionable and take matters in their own hands. The right side features newer and younger characters in the Marvel Universe (aside from Doctor Strange). What does this mean for characters like Spider-Man, Deadpool, and Daredevil who are not shown? Where is Iron Man and why is Doctor Doom holding his helmet?

Axel Alonso, Marvel's editor-in-chief, told Co.Create, "This is not an event. It's the status quo of the Marvel Universe in the aftermath of the war. It's a glimpse as to whom we can point to in the coming year, with just enough 'What the heck's going on there' spots to get people speculating."

Alonso also says the characters are here because they "matter." They will be in a solo book, part of a team, or do something that pushes them into the spotlight. Alonso also would not confirm nor deny whether or not the giant foot belong to Fin Fang Foom.
