Marvel Developing New TV Shows

It looks like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is just the beginning!

First, they dominated the box office with Marvel's The Avengers. Now, the company is looking to dominate TV ratings by boosting their presence on their small screen, too! According to Deadline, Marvel is working on a 60-episode package to sell. This package would include four series and one mini-series for video on demand and cable channels. The website claims feelers have been put out there and there's already interest from both digital and traditional cable networks. Rumored candidates include WGN America, Netflix and Amazon.

No Caption Provided

There have been previous reports that one of these potential shows could be an Agent Carter series. As you may recall, the one-shot on The Avengers blu-ray, Item 47, focused on S.H.I.E.L.D. and now there's an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. series. Peggy Carter has her own short on the Iron Man 3 blu-ray there are reports that Marvel is considering moving forward with the premise.

What shows would you like to see Marvel move forward with, Viners? Heroes for Hire? Young Avengers? Daredevil? Runaways? Punisher? Cloak and Dagger? There's so many options, so you can bet we're pretty excited to see where this goes!

If they can't make TV shows that don't feel incredibly cheap and flat, like the one they have out right now, then they shouldn't be making any.

Indeed...

Heroes for Hire could definately be a great show. Kinda like Arrow or Agents of SHIELD, but more superheroes. Wouldn't mind an X-Force show, with X-Men cameos.

How about a TV series based off of the Invaders.

They could either have Captain America as part of the team; or, create a Captain America stand in; or, have the team form in honor of Captain America, after he gets frozen.

Why not new warriors that might make a better TV series than a movie

I would absolutely love to see Daredevil get a second chance and done right on any form of the screen. Also Punisher would be pretty awesome to see, and anything with Luke Cage and Iron Fist would get my full attention.

Depending on who owns the tv rights to the characters, I wouldn't mind seeing a live action version of Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends, using Spider-Man, Iceman and Human Torch.

I definitely would like to see an X-Men TV series come out about now, but for my second choice, I wouldn't mind seeing a Black Panther or a Runaways series.

It's kind of exciting news but it seems a little premature, shouldn't they wait to see what the global reception for Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D is first before making any more moves? Doesn't seem like good business to me.

Sweet Christmas, I hope it's Heroes For Hire! Whatever shows they choose will need better actors than Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., Coulson gets awkward carrying the show. I want it to be something serious not campy with campy music, and it has to have actual heroes. Preferably the super kind of heroes, not necessarily only ones with super powers, but ones that do miraculous things in a super heroic manner.

I know I have said this before, but I would love for Hydra to be a enemy in Agents of Shield. It would be a perfect way to give homage to the 70's comics as well as tie in moon knight, spiderwoman (as a villain at first), and taskmaster. Just saying.....

The Jarvis show !

Getting a little bit tired of the lack of content and quality of Agents of SHIELD, I would prefer that they focus on this first !!

Deadpool show would be awesome (20th century should give back the rights of this character for free for what they did to him !). Heroes for hire !

I would love heroes for hire, it seems really suitable for tv. Of course I would have a fangasm if they did DD, but that won't happen.

I hope it's not another secret agent show. Agents of SHIELD is average and already has that theme.

Is there any chance Marvel can make an X-Men live action show? I know they can't make the movies, but a high budget, well acted X-Men show would be super duper good.

Other than that, whatever they want is great, I just don't want another Agents of Shield type show--that shows not bad, but I want some damn superheroes in my Marvel. And not the superheroes we get in like Arrow or whatever, I want dudes in bright colors with emblems on their chests!

To my understanding Fox has the movie rights to the XMen only, which is why the toys are still marketed through Marvel/Hasbro and why Fox can't license comics. I am sure Marvel could make an XMen tv show, but most likely out of courtesy for Fox having the movie license they wouldn't make one, unless they pitched it directly to Fox to put on their networks. With that being said Disney has deep pockets and I am sure enough lawyer power to out muscle Fox on this technicality, unless it specifically says in the licensing agreement Marvel couldn't use those characters in a tv show, which is possible.

Daredevil would be fantastic if they can focus it just as much on Matt Murdock as they do on Daredevil. A good mix of crime drama with high octane super heroics.

the runaways, it's a way to place new heroes and another interesting location in the marvel universe.

I'd go for cloak and dagger or heroes for hire as well, to create the street heroes feel in the marvel universe

How about a Marvel show that actually has some super heroes in it? Or even an established comic book character? Sure there has been Maria Hill, Nick Fury and Franklin Hall, but the first two were cameos and the last was, well, not even a b-list villain really. I love Joss Whedon, he is a genius, but when you have a universe as vast as the Marvel one, couldn't you include some actual comic book characters. I have a feeling in two months we will be seeing characters based off this show popping up in actual comics just to give them some validation, which is INSANELY lame! Hell DC might only have Green Arrow as a live action show right now, but I would rather watch Arrow over this just because its an actual character I know and like. And lets not even mention the still crappy acting in this show. If Marvel wants to make a show, then make it based on some of their already established properties. Heck, Mockingbird would be a perfect fit for this show. She has ties to both SHIELD and The Avengers and is not a very super powered character, so why did they not try to even include her? Its ridiculous. Kind of shows me that Marvel has very little faith for the ratings of its established characters on the small screen...which is very...very sad.

How 'bout a series about Damage Control?

It would allow for plenty of superhero cameos, but keep the budget down by focusing on the company that cleans up after the heroes' battles. Plenty of opportunity for humor and could offer a lighter counterpoint to the more action focused SHIELD series.

As entertaining as this could be, would a show about cleaning up the damage caused by superheroes be completely the opposite of keeping the budget down?

I would love a Daredevil show. Daredevil is the perfect Marvel character for a TV series. I wish they would portray Hell's Kitchen accurately and be serious with his character. I also would like other heroes to appear in that show like Spider-man, Punisher, and Elektra so it would make the show more interesting. Plus he has a very good rogues gallery like Kingpin, Bullseye, and Electro. But still, improve Agents of S.H.E.L.D before they make anymore shows.

I'd imagine I'd would be more difficult for them to take a character from television to the movies than it was for Coulson to do the opposite. With that in mind I'd rather they not put folks like Power Man and Iron Fist on TV than risk not having them in the films. However Agent Carter, the Punisher and the Runaways I'm in no hurry to see them on the big screen so if they can make good shows about them I'm all for it.

I feel like Heroes for Hire, Daredevil, and Deadpool would all translate well to TV. They don't require huge budgets or CGI to make effective. And like someone above said a mature-based Moon Knight show could be awesome.

I would like to see an X-Factor show, think the wire meets buffy the vampire slayer but with mutants and super heros? That would be cool.
