We all know that emo Lobo is in fact the impostor, and the badass one is the real one. Or at least that will be true in our hearts

I am familiar with L.E.G.I.O.N., never finished and started R.E.B.E.L.S., but I do remember Lobo was quite a character in that series and played more than the satirical clown he was in his first few runs after the Omega Men. Is he a slaver now? I've barely seen him in the New 52 as of yet and that's why I'm so excited for his own series so I don't have to pick up multiple Supergirl issues and JLU just for some new Lobo action.

Lobo was a real character outside of the over the top minis and one-shots, look at him in L.E.G.I.O.N., R.E.B.E.L.S. and 52 he is a man with a personal code of ethics that he adheres to fiercely-he may not be the brightest bulb always [just look how Vril Drox was able to fool him into near indentured servitude and neutered his regenerative capabilities]. Now with the New 52, he's a slaver [W.T.F.!] and an impostor-so what is he the New 52 version of Jodo Kast riding the reputation of Boba Fett?

I think it's cool. They're finally taking the time to make him a "real" character and stop with the satire for the most part. I'm sure the biker Lobo isn't dead from the fight in this issue and we'll see plenty of him along with the new Lobo in this run. I see it as a "best of both worlds" situation considering I think the redesign is pretty sweet.

I'm really excited and open about the new design. Why do you guys care so much? This isn't "our" Lobo, there are two. As you can see on the cover, there's the new skinny one and the older biker guy we all got attached too. I understand how some people aren't happy at the fact that the "new" Lobo is considered THE Lobo and the 90's muscle-head Lobo is an imposter. We'll see how it goes but I'm stoked.

If DC kills off the Main Man that would kill off a huge % of my respect for the new 52. I know that the Main Man wasn't really like the original Lobo but just like nobody cares about the original Deadpool that was a boring 90s assassin nobody cares about the "original" Lobo

Lobo was a really outrageous character in the good old days.

I'll have to check that out, it's weird because Apollo is supposed to be a Superman level threat, but it sounds hilarious. Thanks dude :)

@micah: It was during the Lobo/Authority crossover. Jenny read about Lobo killing Santa, and she brought him to their dimension. Lobo then proceeds to pretty much solo the whole team. I'm not entirely sure if it's cannon or not. It's referenced later in the Windstorm universe, but some people on comic vine don't agree with it.

It's still a cool comic, you should check it out.

Do you know what comic Lobo fought Apollo in Pre-Flashpoint? I just got into The Authority and I would love to know when that encounter happened.

@micah: Yeah, they're both weak. Pre-Flashpoint Lobo easily manhandled Apollo. I really wish this would all end up with these two "Lobos" duking it out until the REAL Lobo (pre-flashpoint) shows up, finishing them both off and retaking his name in the process.

Oh well, we can't all have what we want.

Well both New-52 Lobos seem weaker than Pre-52. Real Lobo seems to be able to overwhelm Hawkman and fight on par with Supergirl, Savage Lobo was one-shotted by full power Apollo. Who at full power is either on par with Superman or above him.

@micah: Yep, but not holding back can only get you so far. If someone is naturally stronger than you, they'll still hold an advantage on you, even if they hold back. Plus, Superman actually doesn't hold back (or at least not as much) against characters like Black Adam, Lobo, Doomsday, etc. because he knows they can take it.

Before the New 52, Superman couldn't even dream of one-shotting Lobo. Seriously, what is this new sh*t?!

I was always told Supergirl was stronger than Sups because he is constantly holding back, and limiting his power. Meanwhile young adult Kara attacks with all her might LOL.

@amazingwebhead: He regenerated back, but he was dead after she punched him. And don't Kryptonians gain more strength and power as the get older and absorb more of the sun's rays? I'm fairly certain Superman is way more powerful than Kara.

Either way, this new "Lobo" is weak compared to his pre-flashpoint counterpart.

I'm gonna try this out. I just really hope they keep the spirit of Lobo, and that they don't try to legitimize the character. He's a satire, let him be a satire.

@venomoustaco: I seem to recall he was playing possum that time to get what he wanted. Plus, Kara's just as strong as her cousin, only she's not as used to pulling her punches.

I love Lobo and while I am a huge fan of the Lobo of old, and not a big fan of the redesign I think this could still be a great story. This new Lobo has proved to be as much of a fighter and violent man, I just hope we get to see him with his old habits in this new title, and I miss the lingo fraggin basticthes, but I will give this title a shot and hopefully we get a great Lobo story.

You know what, I think I'll give this a try. Even if I'm not fond of the character, Bunn hits home runs with every villain he writes.

This is interesting. I'm not a Lobo fan, but I like the possibilities of this. Personally one way I see this is that the "Old Lobo" stole the name and posed as this character, and the "Real Lobo" found out and wants identity back. I see this is as basically being a fight for the title/name/mantle. It's perfectly in character for Old Lobo to have stolen the name. I can even see the Real Lobo being defeated or killed, and thus the Old Lobo becomes the one and only Lobo. Let them milk this for a bit, it could be interesting to find out how they know each other. See how it plays out before you get angry.

The New 52 is a joke.

DC still thinks it's the 90's so of course they can't have their 90's parody character back to reveal just how silly their whole universe is nowadays.

Exactly. We certainly see eye to eye on these two things - I just don't want to undermine the character that truly set himself apart from the rest of the DCU. That incarnation is the one I'm lobbying for. But yes, it is a business - you are right.
