Kingpin Returns in Civil War II

It's the return of the King.

No Caption Provided

When hero fights hero – where does that leave the villains? As Civil War II engulfs the Marvel Universe, criminal mastermind Wilson Fisk makes his big move! Today, Marvel is pleased to announce CIVIL WAR II: KINGPIN #1 – an all-new Civil War II series launching this July. Rising comic stars Matthew Rosenberg (We Can Never Go Home) and Ricardo Lopez Ortiz (Wolf) bring you a gritty street-level view of the epic upcoming event!

A new Inhuman with the ability to predict the future has helped the heroes of the Marvel Universe stop crime before it even happens. But amid this crackdown on the villains, one man has found a way to thrive. Wilson Fisk has a secret, and its helped him stay a step ahead of the good guys and keep his criminal enterprise running like clockwork. But how? What is his secret?!

“Wilson Fisk is an opportunist, first and foremost,” says Rosenberg in an interview with Marvel.com. “Under his selfish motives, his brutal exterior, or even the façade he puts up as a pillar of his community, he is a man who sees ways to benefit himself and he takes them.“

“The new Civil War will provide him a unique opportunity. He is a Civil War profiteer.”

What secret is Fisk keeping that’s kept his house of cards from tumbling down? More importantly – what will happen when that secret gets out? Don’t miss CIVIL WAR II: KINGPIN #1 when it comes to comic shops and digital devices this July!

I love this cover.

That reminds me, what were the villains of the Marvel Universe doing during the first Civil War?

I love this cover.

That reminds me, what were the villains of the Marvel Universe doing during the first Civil War?

A lot of them were drafted into a new thunderbolts, which was eventually overseen by Norman Osborn which set the events of dark reign in motion, which fought on the side of Iron man and pro-registration. It was kind of an army of super villains. There were also a couple who wanted to side with captain america but I think punisher killed all of them.

I agree, great cover. I'm actually rooting for him, if the super heroes are dumb enough to fight amongst themselves yet again then the bad guys really should win. Or at least be smart enough to step aside and let the heroes kill each other, or exhaust themselves fighting each other and then step in and pick up the pieces.

Why do they say this like the Kingpin hasn't been around? I mean he was in Daredevil right before secret wars started. :o

Good point

Plus with the way Bendis writes heroes (especially in groups) kinda hard not to want to see them all get their @$$es kicked

Just read his Secret Invasion mini series, and god that was a fuster cluck

This excites me, I feel it will add a very intelligent villainous viewpoint - one that means something. Wilson has more dealings and connections with certain rogues than even most Avengers do, I feel he has a huge input in how certain sides will be seen in Civil War. I appreciate more thought in a debate like this.

Sidenote: I wish creators put more thought into the designs of villains, I mean most of them sport their oldest costumes but the heroes have the most up to date tech and suits. It doesn't scream "All new, All Different" to me.

They need to learn to use their "big boy" and "big girl" words, instead of their fists.

Kinda hoping they have more books starring villains. Here's my list of who should definitely get one:

Baron Zemo

Ultimate Reed Richards

Lash (cuz it's about an inhuman)

Abomination (his body is still running around somewhere)

Death Seed Sentry

Doctor Doom (he's a good guy now, but still)

@masterofevil: completely agree would love to see Black Seed Sentry as well. Doom would be good (even though he is technically a good guy we all know he can go bad at any time) another Thanos one would be good. Just something where the story is told from the villians perspective. It can still end with there defeat but seeing things play out for them is something I would welcome.

@regulatorjoe: It'd probably be like DC's Forever Evil saga where they had that whole Villains Month. Then again, that was good reading. I would not hate Marvel doing that for a while.

This cover looks great but the Kingpin looks like a back room mafia mook not the high-rise sophistic ant we all know.

It's quite annoying that I'm going to be hearing Netflix Kingpin voice when I read his dialogue.

I always thought of him as a back room mook who transformed himself into a sophisticate. Someone who was always miss-judged and under-estimated because of his size and looks.

Honestly, I want to love that cover because it's mostly fantastic; but it's ruined by Kingpin's expression. It looks like he just took a dump in his pants.

It looks as if his head didn't belong to the rest of the body.

Like an action figure that comes with two different heads.

It's still a nice cover though.

Wasn't he murdered by Punisher, along with several other villains? Somehow he's been resurrected, but that'd be why he wasn't around.
