Well, at least he doesn't look like a serial killer on the variant cover.

I can't wait either. I am looking forward to the character development where Billy becomes the good kid we know, maybe not so innocent but still a good guy and less mean and hostile and hardened. But, honestly, that one image of Captain Marvel with an evil grin (angry eyebrows with a smile) makes me worried that the evolution of his character might not be so fast or much at all. What if, when Billy becomes Marvel he starts out using his powers to get back at the world? I am just worried that the sweet and friendly Captain Marvel wont show up at all. I was also worried that they would go the New 52 rout and use all the kids to combine into Captain Marvel, and it looks like I was wrong about that.

Do you think once Billy becomes Captain Marvel he uses his magic powers to give the tiger its ability to speak?

Still can't wait to see it though. And I hope its gets its own comic in the New 52. I also want Cyborg to get his own comic too.

I'm glad Cap is finally starting to smile. Maybe once Billy is given the power of Shazam his goodness comes to the forefront and he is happier more often.

im not 100% on this new capt marvel , but fingers crossed he wont be cancelled and forgotten... again

That would be great. Captain Marvel is a character who shouldn't be darkened.

I heard that these 0 covers are just promotional. Also that the actual covers for all 52 zero issues havnt been released yet.

It's quite sad when the back-ups are what make you buy the actual book. This really needs to be its own series.

DC tried to make a "darker" Captain Marvel back in 1987 with the "Shazam!: The New Beginning" mini-series by Roy & Dannette Thomas and Tom Mandrake. It was spun out of the Legends crossover event. Thankfully, that version didn't stick and was promptly forgotten about in favor of the Captain Marvel who was appearing in Justice League.

I hope DC isn't going to try it again. If anything, I feel they should be using the model set by Jerry Ordway in "The Power Of Shazam!". In my opinion, Ordway's was the best modern take on the Marvel family.

mmm i don't like that flashpoint version (all the kinds to combine into Capitan marvel) i prefer the old-three-member Marvel family.

   

Neither I like the huge golden triangle in the chest, it looks uncomfortable.

I'm getting this for certain!!!!!!! Can't wait! The variant I'm seriously considering as well.
