Inglourious Basterds Bad Guy to Be the Lizard?

Will Spider-Man "waltz" with this bad guy?

He's already got Curt Conners' sweater.

The latest rumor to swing around the SPIDER-MAN reboot is that Christoph Waltz - - currently best known as “the bad guy in INGLOURIOS BASTERDS” and soon to be known as “the bad guy in THE GREEN HORNET” - - might have gone in to audition for the Lizard (this is coming from Bleeding Cool.) If this ever did happen, I can only presume that Waltz would become known as “the bad guy in SPIDER-MAN 4.”   I don’t have any doubt that this Oscar-winning Austrian actor could play Dr. Curt Connors convincingly - - he can amazingly speak English (and I think French, too) without an accent.

You know I recall there being some notable public exchange between Waltz and Tarantino wherein the actor told the director, “You gave me my career back,” and the director replied, “You gave me my movie.” Waltz’s had many roles before Hans Landa, but BASTERDS' release has blown his profile up all over the world, making him the new go-to bad guy for fantasy casting calls. A lot of fans really wanted him to play the Red Skull, as I recall. == TEASER ==

If this does prove to be true, I can’t help but feel sorry for Dylan Baker, who played Connors in a supporting role for two SPIDER-MAN movies as a set-up for him eventually becoming the Lizard. It’s looking those plans aren’t ever going to materialize, thus putting Baker in the company of Billy Dee Williams, who infamously played Harvey Dent in BATMAN with the expectation he’d get to become Two-Face in BATMAN RETURNS.

Anyway, what do you Comic Vine think of Waltz as the Lizard? Maybe he could team up with Clive Owen as Kraven?
