G-Man, you're facial expression while trying to explain what goes on during the plot was priceless.

Good review, and I agree with the idea that always trying to push the limits can kinda get boring after a while.

I am not much of an Ennis fan because of books like this where the way he pushes the limits is too much sometimes; it is as if he wants the reader to feel uncomfortable. I can understand pushing the limits as a natural part of the story, but to push the limits merely for the sake of pushing them seems to be a weak story.

However, I must say that I respect Ennis as an industry powerhouse. He has strong command of his craft, even though I often dislike the content. He is like Howard Stern in the sense that either you love him or you hate him. But to give Ennis props, I have to say that his Ghostrider mini series were amazing. I am glad he is in comics and helping the genre.

All that said, I will not be reading Herogasm because my wife is not fond of her husband looking at pornography.

I happened to like this comic, I mean I wouldn't give it five or even four stars, but I thought it was fun...reminded me a lot of this little gem "The Pro" which unsurprisingly was also written by Ennis though I will admit a lot of people probably wouldn't enjoy this style of comic...but I'm not most people :D "
I just don't think this comic compares to the regular series.  I do have to admit that I've lost some enthusiasm over that as well.  This is just a pale comparison.  But perhaps things will pick up in issue #2.

Ok you're right but don't forget that  comic art always tends to emphasize on the parts of the heroes' bodies that would probably excite the sexual fantasy of the reader -Who hasn't observed the unusually big breast of Emma Frost-.
Considering that I don't think that such series are that  heretical or irrelevant to the marvel history!

I always meant to pick up a TPB or some issues of The Boys as I thought the basic theme was interesting. Do I absolutely need to have prior knowledge of what's going on there, or does Herogasm stand alone?

Herogasm does not stand alone at all logan48227. If you read it without any knowledge of The Boys storyline/atmosphere it would be confusing and hard to follow. If you have read The Boys then it fits in with everything you expect about this particular 'universe' and is very funny. You just have to be aware going into this comic that it is very dark, very heavy on the sex/adult themes, and with very Adult humor.

TheBoys, Planetary and anything with Deadpool are probably my favorite reads right now.
