I don't believe it. I literally came up with an idea like this a few months ago!!!! Difference was that it would be set in the 30's and 40's, which this probably won't, but still this is uncanny!!! Now this is one time I don't mind Bats getting a show, when there's so many other characters that deserve one, since apparently it won't be about him!!!!! Mainly anyway.

so...shouldn't it be in WB's channel?......i mean, they are the onew trying to create a live-action universe with arrow......licenses are confusing...

I've been waiting for a post since I read the news on Twitter. LOVE this idea. It would be even cooler if they use story lines from Gotham Central, slim chance that happens though.

This is awesome news! I'm assuming the Falcone crime family will play a somewhat big role? This is really good news for the lesser known villains, hopefully they'll get some much deserved exposure.

@locuas: The report listed a big bidding war. Just because it's Warner Bros. TV doesn't mean it automatically goes to CW. Like The Big Bang Theory is WB but on CBS (Welcome home).

Yes!!! Can we please have Bryan Cranston as Commish. Gordon?? This would also be a great way to introduce Barbara Gordon as well. It has the potential to crossover with Arrow/Flash and maybe go into the DC Cinematic Universe

I'm optimistic as always, but DC really needs to alter what appears to be a "catch-up" plan.

So since Fox won the bidding war, does that mean it'll be cancelled after a season, then come back?

I want this on cw with arrow. For me and all the other WB/DC loyalists. And where the H is wonder woman's series??? boooooo!

@batmannflash: He would be an amazing older Gordan but the show is going to be based on his earlier days in Gotham before Batman. I imagine he will be around the age he was in Year One as a Sgt instead of the older commissioner.

Great news! I know this is a dream come true for a lot of people, and I can't wait to see just why. If it was CW I'd write it off already, but having Fox involved is a good sign. The very fact that they are announcing this today proves that their decision is aping the Marvel model, but that's not a bad thing.

This won't last long. Fox doesn't have a good history with keeping shows like this.

I'm not really interested in a show about a pre-Batman Gotham, but I'll at least give it a shot.

DC is going to have a Green Arrow, Flash, and Comissioner Gordon show then with a Superman and World's Finest movie. DC is totally going to make this into a DCCU.

Speaking of the show do we know if Bullock, Montoya, and Crispus are going to be on the show with Gordon? And has anyone heard anything else of the Booster Gold and Spectre show?

@g_man: I'm excited for this!!! But kind of wish Fox didn't win the war. Because they always cancel shows after 1 or 2 seasons like Human Target. But I guess Human Target isn't a good example because it did go bad by adding two females for a female audience. -____- I'm also hoping it's in the same universe as Arrow.

I hope this show is half as good as Birds of Prey was. I kid, I kid. The CW sucks, it's a horrible channel, so I'm glad this isn't on there. With it being on FOX, it will actually have a better chance of not being cancelled. I'll give Arrow and Smallville an exception pass because they're focused on actual Super Heroes.

I've seen it all. When Batman's city! and third tier characters get a show green lit (and I believe it will be successful) before Wonder Woman can even manage a post pilot episode, the games over.

I'll check it out when it comes out...but it sounds stupid.

I'm not accusing, I'm just saying.

I don't want Fox to produce this show, because then it limits the number of DC characters they can use due to legal constraints. If it was on the CW, then it would have free reign over any DC character. Also, who wants to watch Gotham before Batman?

DC is well known for building fantastic and wildly successful universes for their characters not named Batman or Superman, and Fox is heralded for routinely turning other companies' heroes into critically-applauded sensations and for staying true to the source material.

I can't think of a single way this could go wrong!

I'd rather have a show called "Before Batman" that documents the journey of Bruce Wayne on his path to become to become the Dark Knight.

I hope they go dark with it. Like The Shield dark.
