Galactus Gets a Huge Makeover in THE ULTIMATES #2

Warning: Galactus spoilers ahead.

We're letting you know, right off the bat there are spoilers for ULTIMATES #2 in this piece. If you hate spoilers, you may want to run away now.

Galactus is an iconic Marvel cosmic villain, trying to eat the Earth more times than a dead X-Men character has come back to life. He's even been the villain in the 1610 Universe during the Cataclysm event. Galactus is known for eating and destroying planets.

In issue ULTIMATES #2, the origin story of Galactus AKA Galan is retold as he and his crew are the last surviving beings in his universe. Then, everything goes south and Galan and crew dies... or does he?

Things are changed up a little there as Galactus is no longer born out of a cosmic egg. His ship reforms itself to become an incubator for Galan's rebirth as the devourer of worlds. There's a few small changes here and there, but nothing major as of yet. Galactus has just been updated a little bit.

Spectrum actually holds her own against Galactus and gets him into the chamber. Black Panther gets the machine turned on and Galactus is defeated, for now.

The Ultimates know they can't contain this cosmic entity, but they wanted to change him and not make him a force of death and destruction. So what happened to Galactus after that?

Will we ever see him again?

The final page of this issue changes everything about Galactus.

Galactus is now the Lifebringer. He no longer sucks energy from planets. He dispels it. There were rumors that Galactus would actually be joining the Ultimates before this series started, and while the first issue didn't really seem to back the rumor up, this could be how Galactus gets in.

What does this mean for the Marvel Universe and while giving life to dead planets could be considered "good," how long before this new power becomes a problem?

What do you think of the new Galactus?
