David Haller, the son of Charles Xavier, who goes by the name Legion, will be starring in his own show. The FX Networks ordered a pilot for Legion today, as revealed by Marvel. The show will introduce and follow David Haller.
Since he was a teenager, David has struggled with mental illness. Diagnosed as schizophrenic, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. But after a strange encounter with a fellow patient, he’s confronted with the possibility that the voices he hears and the visions he sees might be real.
Noah Hawley will executive produce the show and write the pilot. Lauren Shuler Donner, Bryan Singer, Simon Kinberg, Jeph Loeb, Jim Chory, and John Cameron will also executive produce as well. FX Productions and Marvel Television will produce the pilot.
President of original programming at FX, Nick Grad, discussed the character and story.
“Legion is just the sort of ambitious story that Noah excels at,” Grad said. “His adaption of Fargo for television was one of the most acclaimed television events in recent memory. It’s also an honor to partner with Marvel on Legion and to enlist such an accomplished team of Executive Producers to create this pilot.”
Looks like Marvel and Fox are teaming up to bring the X-Universe to television in a very different way. We'll keep you updated as more develops.
