Has it been revealed why male Thor is no longer worthy?

I like the idea of her, costume and all, I just hate her back story...and the fact that she has cancer. It's really distracting.

I wonder how long she's going to remain Thor so I know when I can start buying again.

I like it. She's more interesting than the original Thor.

Me too, if they introduced her some other way it would be a lot easier to get on board with her.

And in regards to the cancer, how is she still alive?

Last time we saw her she was half dead and refusing to undergo any treatment.. This is 8 months later and she's still kicking?

Unless she's remained in her Thor form since and no one has noticed Jane Foster's been missing.

I promise the moment Aaron figures that out, he'll let us know.

1000x Yes. I've never rooted against a cancer victim before, but I can't wait till she's dead.

I have such mixed feelings on this character. I like the idea of a female Thor, especially with new approach to using her powers, but hate that it is Foster and that Odinson had to be devalued to make way for her.

I would've liked to see Odinson still be full power, but pass the mantle to the new girl, but did they really have to cut my man's arm off and make him unworthy, for Foster to be the new Thor? seems extreme

This cover is gorgeous, I don't even read the series and I would want this as a poster for my wall.

@sprior93: The idea of her being worthy of Mjolnir is extremely interesting and unbelievably creative, I think everyone is in agreement about that (okay, not everyone, but most people familiar with the character is). The main problem is that, after years of people picking up the hammer and still being them, rather than the new Thor, all of a sudden, someone comes along and takes the guy's name.

The worst part about that is that we're left to assume that whatever Nick Fury said in Original Sin was so bad, that apparently, Thor's not worthy of his given name anymore. And we haven't been given so much as a hint to why that is.

It's essentially someone coming along, telling him that he's not Thor anymore, smacking the hammer out of his hand, and then someone comes along and takes up his name as if the licensing rights to it have been revoked.

And making it up as they went along..... Which is how New 52's happen.

It does give them an excuse to draw a woman with the hammer. Art is good. I guess the story might be ok. I don't hate her, but at this point any hero in the mu is just a name and costume and can be replaced by someone else. It's like Avengers or Spider-Man or Captain America... Not so much heroism as it is a franchise operation like McDonalds and Burger King. It does bug me a bit that they downgraded Thor, but as a marvel character if you're not being downgraded in someway you're probably not being noticed. The writers live I think to chip away at the original concept and replace the old characters with replacement characters. It's just the trend.

I think marvel goes for that, for them I think the more old fans that they can anger the more new fans that might show up.

I like her character, she's pretty cool.

No, I'm out. Then again I never was interested in Thor and only wanted to check this out, because it had potential, that sadly turned out was completely wasted.

If they had introduced her in a better way it would have dissipated by now. But her origin is just so retarded and forced it makes it hard to swallow this change down.

The only good thing about this is the Story of Unworthy Thor. That axe is badass and that arm is even more so. The issue is how they executed these changes to get to this point.

What is NOT OK is how they reached that point. Thor became unworthy in the most inexplicable way possible. He lost his arm in the most pathetic way possible. Foster became "Thor" in the most inexplicable way possible. The reason why her name is Thor is ONLY to sell comics. No other reason why they'd keep Thor in the title.

Really looking forward to this series coming back. I've missed Dauterman's and Wilson's art so much

@runawayavenger: here we go again. Thor has been without his hammer countless times. Even worse, he's been sick and almost dead with it so this argument about it being a new character growth situation is DOA. Not to mention, he has had ZERO characterization up to now and it's been over a year. What? Lying around in bars is what passes as characterization and growth now??? No wonder new readers like it. By college standards they can't even read or right correctly for their ages. Stands to reason they'd also have no taste in characters and storytelling.

I can't see any other possible way to diminish the wielder of the hammer, (in fact this never happened before, even with crap characters like Roger Norvell Mjolnir was just a weapon) but i guess SJW love it anyway because she has boobs, but yeah not everyone is obliged to like Thor (Thordis) worse story from the last years, better... This is not a Thor story, just a Pr with no story rooted plot from the previous runs, like the necessity of that whisper demonstrated, Titania quitting on crime because Thordis is female also was awesome writing by Jason Aaron...

Y'know, gotta admit that her costume looks cool, and the art is gorgeous.

what was her origin exactly? I remember Thor becoming unworthy thanks to Nick's whispering somehow, but he dropped the hammer on the moon. How did Jane get to the fricking moon to pick it up? I haven't read anything with Jane Thor so I'm not caught up.

Last time I remember seeing Thor Odinson was in New Avengers #32 when he battled to his death.

I wonder if he is even still around in the "New" Marvel universe? I really miss him!

Actually Thor God of Thunder (previous run) was great, and the God Butcher Arcs were probably some of the best comics in the modern era....

People can say what they want about this run so far but the big changes weren't Aaron's fault in the slightest. They were moves that Marvel wanted to make to breathe some fresh air into the character. There are changes that I too didn't like but you can't blame Aaron for being tied creatively. Was the change handled the best and most creative way? Probably not. Is our original Thor still around and interesting? Yup. Is this book still a fun read? Hell yes it is.

New York bestseller? LOL It's not even close to being the best-selling Thor book. If there's one thing fem-Thor is best at, it's at losing readers.
