I used to really enjoy Hellcat. But then there was the whole weird marriage to Hellstrom and stuff. And this book totally has a Batgirl feel. I'll pass

Definitely not for me, but I am glad to see so many comics like this aimed at women. I've had some luck getting my wife to read a few lately, she might enjoy this one.

I think I'm going to give this title a shot. I really like Patsy and I'm happy to see She-Hulk in the title as well. I just hope Leth's story holds up I have never been too impressed by her work.

I think the art is supposed to reflect how Patsy Walker is the oldest person to be around in MARVEL, thus the art looks old

I think that this is going to scratch the itch left by She-Hulk. I like to add some pop art to my weekly stack. I'm in.

Why is Die Fledermaus/Bat Manuel from The Tick standing back-to-back with Damian Hellstrom on (interior) page 2?

It's not Patsy, it's Trish!

But yeah the tone of the book doesn't seem up my alley, although I hope it does well.

Take it from an obvious non-artist to call someones work talentless because it's not your cup of tea.

@stellar421: and once again this is better artwork compared to liefeld's stuff ??? Bahahaha

I'd say the biggest issue with Liefelds work is that it's so hyper realistic and detailed, while at the same time the anatomy can be very abstract and broken. Which is extremely jarring to look at especially for people with a background in arts and anatomy. Which he's obviously improved on a butt ton. His work is stunning now. But overall, amount of detail or the amount of lines you put into a piece does not = quality.

Anyways this is coming from a perspective on an artist who knows how much time and work it takes to make art regardless of how complex or simplistic it is.

@kingkaijuice: first of all, you don't need to be an artist to tell art sucks. I myself am an amateur artist and I know I've got a lot of learning to do before I dare touch a comic book job.

There's simplistic and then there's amateuristic. An opinion is not a fact. It can be someone's opinion that Williams' art is nice, it's a fact it looks like it was drawn by an amateur.

@stellar421: I think you mixed up your opinions and your facts. There is no fact that something can look amateur. Especially given the nature of subjectivity in art. Not only that, but this is official. There very motion of amateur implies it's a work done by an indie artist, with lots of learning to go.

It looks like it was drawn by someone with a specific style. A consistent style, with clear focal points, composition and an eye for color. It can be someones opinion that it is nice or ugly. But there is no fact in whether something is professional or not. Having an job/career as an artist is the defining factor in that.

@kingkaijuice: having a job as an artist is not a defining factor. If an amateur gets a job, it doesn't make him a pro. There's no "style" to Williams' art. Chris Bachalo has a simple yet amazing style. Mike Allred has a simple style that says so much with so little. Williams can't even draw hands and feet right, and she always uses the same designs for mouths. The fact remains she's an amateur, or at least draws like one. When you're drawing comics, you need to be a lot better than this (which makes me wonder why Marvel even hired her).

@stellar421: The mouth thing is totally nitpicking. There are only so many ways you can draw a mouth. Especially if your using Mike Allred as an example of simplicity. He suffers from the joy of same-face syndrome. Many of his characters faces are the exact same shape. Blocky, cheek bones and mouth/lips that are the same on every one of his characters. His F4 cover has some pretty shoddy hands as well on the Thing. I'm still not seeing any area where hands are drawn wrong. Sometimes they seem a little small, but not wrong.

Also Chris Bachalo is not that simplistic. He has a more japanese influenced look in his faces sure, but there is a lot of detail(and heavy blacks) in his work. His simple in a traditional comic art kind of way sure. A good example of legit simple is Kris Anka. His lines and shapes go straight to the point. Similar to animated works, where little details like wrinkles and muscle definition do not matter. Something which is seen in a lot of newer artists today.

But my point still stands, your talking opinion, not facts here. Regardless if I like it or you hate it, their successful and putting time and effort into what they love. So let's end it on that.

@kingkaijuice: I find Kris Anka's style a lot more detailed than this. My opinion remains that Williams work is crap. But if somebody out there likes it, knock yourself out.

I like a lot of the shorts Kate Leth has done, and find her humor refreshing, but that's also what worries me about this book. I'd appreciate a fun, cool take on Hellcat, much more than I'd appreciate a fun, cool book from Leth, dressed up as Hellcat. Give me a reason to embrace the character, and I will love the author.

@stellar421: You're literally defining what a professional is; someone paid for a job. An amateur is someone that does something for a reason other than pay/is not paid for their efforts. These words do not imply quality.

You're also just stating opinion. I also do not like this art, yet I know that is my opinion. My dislike does not make it poor quality by fact.

@lebefrei: I said she draws like an amateur and not like a pro. Comic book art is in a completely different league than the crap she's putting out. That remains a fact.

@stellar421: ...Again, these words do not suggest skill, only whether or not one is paid for their use of said skill. There is confusion in this, and misuse, as one with great skill is more likely to be paid for it. She may draw well, or she may draw poorly. Both of these things, generally speaking, are extremely subjective. There are very famous artists through history whose works could be recreated or even "improved" upon by "superior" artists. Yet those "better" artists' works will never sell for 170 million dollars.

Art is subjective. If you cannot accept this, you lack perspective and empathy. I do not like this particular art. You do not like this particular art. It is professional art, as she was paid for it. It is art, whether or not you like it. You do not, and will never, be the sole determinate into what "league" this art is in. It is art, and it is in a comic book. It is comic book art.
