First Look at Marvel's 'Fear Itself' Finale and 7-Page 'The Fearless' Preview

As 'Fear Itself' draws closer to its end, Marvel gives us our first good look at what to expect in the following story arc, 'The Fearless.'

Marvel Comics has released its first teaser for 'Fear Itself' #7, the final issue in their latest event story; but it wouldn't be an event if "not everyone will make it out alive." In order to save his friends, an the world, Iron Man must return from Asgard with the weapons that can transform him and the Avengers into 'The Worthy,' but will he make it out in time? And who won't make it out alive?

No Caption Provided

But wait, that's not all. Following the final issue of 'Fear Itself' comes 'Fear Itself: The Fearless,' a story that Marvel hopes will bring Valkyrie to the forefront as a premiere female character. With Fear Itself over, Valkyrie decides to take back the weapons that started this mess in the first place, even if that means going against Captain America. Oh, and no doubt, Sin is sure to cause some trouble in this upcoming 12 issue series. However, how will Valkyrie manage to go forth without the help of the Captain, the first Avenger?

We think it's great that Valkyrie will be getting a chance to flex her muscles on her own and that she's being given some spotlight -- particularly since a lot of fans don't know a whole heck of a lot about her. We're looking forward to seeing Valkyrie prove herself in this new series. What do you think? Are you looking forward to the final issue of 'Fear Itself,' and the first issue of 'Fear Itself: The Fearless'? Full solicitations and previews for both images can be found below.

This looks like it could be ok, i won't pick it up tho. Idk why but that variant cover for Fear Itself #7 really reminds me of Kingdom Hearts. Especially Doctor Strange's weapon

So I guess the hammers get taken away and the fearless story arc is like in brightest day (which I hated). MARVEL needs to chill it.

The variant for Fear Itself #7 looks REALLY cool. I have to say, I've enjoyed this event more than DC's Flashpoint.

The characters look better on panel. This has been a really predictable story, but again I will say it has better story structure and hasn't slapped anyone in the face like Siege did with the Sentry, Ares and Thor in particular. I really hope they start to peel away from theming the whole Marvel Universe in Asgardian. I like those stories but better in their own books. Also read Fear Itself: Fellowship Of Fear. I wonder how much of the material presented there will come to fruition in the fallout of this, it looked like good staging for fun story lines.
Personally all in all I've more enjoyed everything else Marvel has that's been more or less under the radar of Fear Itself (Vengeance, Children's Crusade, Supreme Power, Hulk books, FF, ect.), the offshoot FI mini's (Youth In Revolt, The Homefront, The Deep, Fearsome Four, Iron Man 2.0, Alpha Flight, Heroes For Hire, ect.), and other events than the main Fear Itself story (Spider-Island, Iron Age) . The only book that is actually a portent part of the main story that I can say was worth the read was Journey Into Mystery, or at least enough that it was worth not spending the time on other books.Overall Fear Itself has just been to Micheal Bay-ish for me I think, being very big and in my face, but lacking in substance and the character motions somewhat bland.

On a side note, I noticed a user or two here, and kind of all over the Vine seems to have some parallel to DC's New 52 and Marvels Fear Itself, usually negatively regarding one or the other on the others behalf. I really don't grasp this mentality myself.
Other than maybe elevating each others sales in the competitive market aspect, which I'll be honest I don't think makes a large difference since most buyers of a comic are aware of both companies, as I know I play all fields myself, and that any of my landlocked by Marvel or by DC friends still seem to keep up on the releases and details of the other. It's sort of like, and forgive the bad analogy, being at a buffet table and saying the mashed potatoes are terrible because your currently having the french fries. It just doesn't add up to me, imo.

Stereotypical climax if someone has to die. I find Marvel's recent events to be all about EPICness and full of lacklustre storytelling, something akin to a blockbuster movie in which people die and everything explodes. This bores me so, had it been a wider gap between this release and Chaos War I might have approved, but alas it does not. Oh, and why is Cap sitting out becoming one of the Mighty? Wolverine looks like an amalgam of himself and Grey Gargoyle, lol.

If it were really that big of an event, why are the covers, obviously, drawn by pre-school children?

Marvel has a lot of artists that are pre-school children. You obviously don't read much Marvel.

Nice stuff. Love the artwork but yes, Marvel needs to cool it on big events because its just been dragging on for too long. Smaller storylines and arcs once again Marvel...read my words...

God.. I hate Captain America, they write him to be able to fight the Hulk and such, yet he is labeled as a 'peak-human'. Batman is labeled also as a 'peak-human', and REALISTICALLY, could Batman actually fight The hulk? No, and I give Batman a better chance than Cap.

They need to write more realistically, or not change the power of characters based on who they're fighting, it makes me wanna throw any comic I read down a sewer.

Basically what I'm getting at is; how in the name of Ron Jeremy's mighty COCK, is he supposed to be a threat to people that are fucking with Asgardians? It's such bullshit, and it really pisses me off.

@SexualLobster: I sort of agree and disagree. Cap's never taken Hulk on in a straightforward fight. He's always picked his shot and tried to avoid getting killed. He's been successful at that and but has never done any significant damage to Hulk that I've seen. But yes, powering down characters to make a fight is idiotic writing.

I'd also get deep into why Cap's label as "peak" Bat's label as "peak" are not the same, but that could spark a whole other debate of which has already been explored more than once in other threads.

So Fear Itself ends and then Fearless begins? Is this like Dark Reign and Heroic Age or is it another event book?

But WAIT! Not long after our heroes are reeling from the events of Fear Itself mere moments after the last of the hammers have been found.....Galactus comes from space to declare war on the Asgardians.....but he's wielding a hammer!

With a shattered Earth caught in the middle can the Avengers save the day from total and complete destruction....again...for the first time?

Redundant Apocalypse....catch it Holiday 2011.

How is it that after Fear Itself, the hammers are depowered or wateva & Sin gets AWAY?! Only to try & locate them once more? How lame is this? I can already see what the public will be chanting after this event..

NORMAN OSBORN WAS RIGHT!! Welcome back Dark Reign! :D

This will be the only good result from this dragged out "event".

As for 'who doesn't make it out alive.' It really doesn't matter because they'll come back to life soon enough... Super hero death really doesn't mean a thing and Marvel knows this. That's why they tried to address the issue in Fear Itself - Black Widow... But they failed... They tried to give us a reason to feel bad for superheroes that die, but they completely failed... So, it just doesn't matter.

I dunno guys, it just seems so overblown with all these coinciding stories. Call me stupid, but why is Wolverine a main star in this, in Schism, AND having pretty big problems in X-Force :/

@SexualLobster: cap is suppose to represent the AMERICAN SPIRIT the power of a upstanding American man a peak human that may seem cool to some but in a world were people can control the weather , cause city wide earthquakes , control & change your mind or being able to bend reality... an American flag wearing peak human with a shield isn't that impressive lol

@RedheadedAtrocitus: guess your right. we want long time stories not just 6 issues. even if this short stories contain most of the time a lot of action
