Lois must be quite busy at the moment between writing for two newspapers and raising a son on a farm. It's a wonder she has the time to spare for all this. Wonder if Frakenstein will notice the difference between Pre 52 and New 52 Superman. Personally I'm looking forward to Multiplicity more but this sounds better than expected.

Honestly,

Why can Marvel learn from their mistakes with Spider-Man, OMD ugh, like DC has done.

They don't seem to have difficulty making a married Super-Man & Lois Lane work.

and yes I know we now have Renew your Vows, but I will never forget the dumb move Marvel did with ASM and try to get them to reverse the whole thing.

The fact that theres a separate alternate reality book where Peter and Mary Jane are still married, seemed like that death-knell that they will ever reverse the actions of OMD.

That maybe, but it could also mean that if RYV does far better "superior" than the main book and Slott's less than mediocre stories, than that will go a long way to prove what a BIG, DUMB move Marvel did in allowing Quesada do what he did. Which could result in forcing them to re-evaluate their stance on what OMD.

My only hope, is that Marvel seeing RYV's success, doesn't do another BIG, DUMB move by being petty and cancelling RYV, just because they want to further Slott's interpretation of Spider-Man.

The problem is that Slott's ASM isn't bad because of OMD, it's just bad cause we are tired of his interpretation of Peter. Slott is the longest writer of Spider-Man ever, and I just don't like his Parker, we need a new team!

I'm not saying it is because of OMD, it's just that, that is where it started, and like you I detest this interpretation of Peter/Spider-man, even more so now that he's funding the Avengers, which incidentally is when the reviewer of IGN, a supporter of Slott, began to say, 10 years too late in my opinion, This Is Not and does not feel like Spider-Man, so like you said this is definitely all down to Slott and we do need a whole new team of not only creators, but editors too.

There's actually two seperate alternate realities with a married Peter and MJ, the other being the ASM newspaper strip which, outside of one story in 2009 parodying the current direction, has really kept the couple alive all decade, thus negating all the real impact the post-OMD era could have really mustered.

Slott also left hints in the most recent Power Play storyline that the RYV universe has a link to the main timeline, which they might elaborate on next year

DC has a deluxe hardcover that covers the first two trades but its coming out in august....I sooo want that.

Did Tomasi grow up a Frankenstein fan? The first time I was aware of him was in his Batman and Robin run, and I liked the character, so I'm not complaining!

Anyways, this looks good! I still can't believe how much I like Superman! This book is just a treat!

Tomasi is a fan of Morrison's ideas. He picks on Morrison's threads often and he does a good job at it.

@animehunter: I never understood the want/need for heroes to be unhappy all the time by trying desperately to not marry them off even if it suits the character(s). It seems counter intuitive since love interests are usually a staple of most stories.

It was a stupid mandate in the N52, and I can't understand why Marvel would want to copy it.

@squalleon: Cool! Thanks! I may get in trouble for this, but I actually prefer Tomasi handling Morrison's ideas because he gives them a more grounded/humanized touch. I liked Morrison's Batman run when I read it, but I have to look stuff up to remember it because I didn't have an emotional connection with his work. Everything with Tomasi, I remember.

Well now I am heh. Which one do you like more, Action or Superman? The latter is better imo

I like how Rebirth is slowly introducing characters back into the fold like Swamp Thing in Hellblazer and Superman Annual and now Frankenstein. (Honestly though, I think Swamp Thing could do with a proper Rebirth and its own title, I loved Charles Soule/Scott Snyder's run in New 52) However unlike New 52, they aren't giving a bunch of random characters solo titles destined to fail. That being said, I'm surprised some characters aren't given a proper Rebirth treatment yet. Batwoman is on it's way but I think characters like Martian Manhunter, Shazam/Captain Marvel, classic JSA (Jade needs to return, Wally West wasn't the only one seemingly wiped out of existence during N52), Doctor Fate too maybe? The recent run from DCYou ended with a thud... Also, with a solid creative team some JLD characters could have some solid books, Zatanna anyone??

I really like the positive reception this book gets. it's nice to see a Superman book get loved by fans again. It shows that the character isn't outdated at all as most people think.

The funny thing is that Superman is more of a supporting character to his son in this book. In fact, the weakest book in the Super line (Action Comics) also happens to be the one that features him the most.

I don't have a problem with the direction they are taking Peter, or even the fact that Marvel wanted him to be single, It's just that ever since Superior Spider-Man ended, I realized I have not enjoying the reading the series. This has more to do with the way Slott writes Peter Parker, and the story as whole. I just got tired of his Peter, so I had to drop the series, and I don't regret doing so.

Also there is no real Spider-Man, There's an Amazing Spider-Man and an Ultimate Spider-Man, as well as a plethora of Spider-People introduced before and after Spider-Verse. They are all "real" but Peter Parker just happens to be the first and more beloved one.

while i hear you, you are Incorrect... there is only 1 spider-man. you know the one created in 63 and first appeared in amazing fantasy # 15. I'm definitely not talking about miles, gwen, cartoon peter, miguel etc. im talking about the Amazing spider-man. i preferred him back in the late 80s early 90s being with mary jane. but i guess this is just the step they took with him.

Ultimate Spider Man (Peter) was the best Spider Man. Let the 616 verse die off and reboot that shit with fresh stories like the MCU has. MCU is popular as shit and nothing like 616. Ultimate comics were popular as shit, but then they let crap writers try to kill it off, and what was left was hit and miss with a host of "meh" Writers given something to do.

Now after secrete wars, everything in 616 is Diversity and Race related, just dumb. Should focuse more on the ultimate titles with good writers and let 616 die off then become the former shell it is now.

Obvisously you didn't read my prior post correctly..... i included miles name in the bunch with the others. all the rest of these characters that have been brought out by marvel are just a lame attempt to try get more readers by making characters that ride the coat tails of the originals. from female thors, to asian hulks, to black spider men, gay characters that weren't gay for the past 30 years all of sudden are. im still awaiting a transgender hero, maybe they can redo X-23 laura and say he was a man prior to being a woman...

So Swamp Thing in one issue, Frankenstein in this... I suppose John Constantine is going to show up next or something like Etrigan, the Spectre or Trigon after that.
