Looks all right, but unless it's a deliberate change this is pushing the whole "conceal my identity" business to ridiculous levels even for superheroes.

The writing is boilerplate first-person low-grade wit, which Marvel seems to have settled on as their default. This whole scene works better if you just strip away the captions.

I see that the goggles look is appearing more and more for characters getting new costumes. Some of them make sense (Captain Falcon), but on others I don't see the need for them.

I really like her new costume and I am looking forward to reading some Spider-Woman stories not related to Spider-Verse.

The fact that Spider-Woman was brought into the Spider-verse is what gave the series a serious head start. Now the question is will we get to see Peter Parker and Jessica Drew develop a partnership that was once similar to his past relationship with Felicia Hardy(Pre-OMD)? Jessica Drew is one of the few characters that would make for a good alternate to the Black Cat as Spider-Man's partner in a guestspot and vice versa. Do you agree?

@d9000: So by saying you've grown up, you mean you now want your super heroes to wear street cloths bought at the mall, instead of uniforms or costumes?

@Mark_Stephen: Yah, I don't want to grow up either when it comes to super heroes.

I'm sorry, I really dig her old costume. I have no idea why they felt she needed a change. People do not buy the book because the costume, the buy is for the art and story. No one bought Spider-Woman and said, wow, that costume is aweful I'm dropping this. As for the new costume, change tends to give a brief pop in sales, so she will most likely see an increase for an issue or two, then back to wherever the comic sales rates it. It will be interesting to see what happens once the spider-verse is over. That's the driving force behind Spider-Woman and Silk. I really want to see what the books sell without artificial boosts.

So she got a boob reduction AND dumb looking glasses? What is it with redesigning and sunglasses? This is new hawkeye cosyume all over again. Just give her a mask for Pete's sake. And seriously...did they not look at any other sw art before they started this? What is up with the lack of curves?

The costume change is all about the movies. Originally costumes were drawn to look striking on the page, now they have to be transferable to the movie screen. That means uglier costumes that don't hide the actors or actresses face as much anymore.

@thatlyn_yoaeg_ill_rymmin: I'm not sure about New York's urban complex either, but it seems like it would take longer to go around a 6 story building than to just go around. Eh either way, she coulda at least moved her bike out of the road.

The web things... How do they help in flight? Her flight isn't really based on aerodynamics is it? I always thought they were kinda pointless on her old costume considering that. And these seem a lot more ridged then the foily ones before.

Other than the horrible goggles, I like the costume, especially the logo.

(Is she no longer hiding her identity from the public, or are those goggles supposed to somehow keep people from seeing who she is?)

I expected the suit look better, but the art doesn't make justice for it. Wierd seeing the boob reduction of the character.

@theprez: They might not be reduced by all that much. Just now they don't have individual boob-socks built into a unitard. Now she might have some support when she does acrobatics.

I am loving this. I am loving the new look, the new direction and the new artist (thank God). Everything I've not enjoyed with Jessica has been addressed here. Fingers crossed my optimism isn't misplaced.

As for that action arrow, haha, I got the joke. Very clever.

So conflicted with this, kind of like when Captain Marvel got her book and new look. I think they both needed a update to their suits, but just don't like the looks or the direction of their books.

In Jess's case she got sucked into the Spider-verse crossover, so this to me will be a 1st issue in a sense for me.

But those glasses are a eye sore, wish they kept her mask somehow?

I'm not saying I don't like the new costume (I always support it when female superheroes trade in their stupid swimsuits for something slightly more practical and realistic). I'm just saying I think Wonder Woman's costume redesign had more than a little bit of influence here.
I mean, look at that first picture. That's basically WW's redesigned suit, only a spider version.

I prefer the old costume, but it's not as bad as what DC did to Harley Quinn or the even bigger goggles they added to catwoman years ago.

Not very fond of the art though...

IIRC DeConnick had a pitch in for Spider-Woman about a year ago, that she had to retract due to her schedule tightening. I would've killed for that, though. Avengers Assemble was the first time I was really engaged by and interested in Jess.
