So either the War of 1812 lasted a whole HELL of a lot longer in the Marvel Universe, or the continuity editor has just thrown up his hands and said, "Yeah, sure, let's go with that."

No, you're right. The war of 1812 only lasted 3 years.

I don't see how Marvel Editorial doesn't see this as a problem. They're not fudging his birth date a little to make it work, they're pushing it back by a CENTURY; he'd have to have been more in the 1780s to match this artwork.

I think it's just something you'll just have to go along with it being set in 1812 for the sake of the story. Lemire most likely thought it would be an interesting place in history to explore.

They don't care about anything. This is the same comic company that changed Iceman gay and in the same panel had him say that his future self is straight. Marvel has given up on comprehensive writing and simply gone for shock-value tactics and viral marketing to draw in readers.

Old Man Logan is from a world that is similar, but not exactly like Earth 616. Making him from like, the 1700s actually makes sense. They can write that off as the reason why his healing is weaker.

Yup, they've now established Adult Iceman was closeted, too. The bizarre thing is that NOW Hopeless has retconned it so that the O5 are NOT the same characters as their adult counterparts (Beast discovered when he finally found a way back to the past that they're ALREADY THERE), so that should mean Iceboy's orientation DOESN'T necessarily reflect his adult self.

That might have made for an actual interesting conflict between them, and a fascinating exploration of sexual identity. But nope, Marvel's going to take the easy way out.

That came up in issue 19 of Hopeless's volume. Teen Hank found a way to get back to their past with some mix of science and magic, only to discover that there was already a version of the O5 there.

Its very Awkward when unskilled writers try to do a time traveling story plot , ..just dont do it .

As far as the 1812 fact , well in 616 they never stated when Logan was born , this whole mid 1800 birth was a later than 2004 Wolverine Origin Books which was meant for the wolverine in the Ultimate Universe but some how it leaked as the origin for both 616 & Ultimate Universe wolverine which that was a huge mistake but since it was bendis & quesada running the show they dropped the ball on that one . The 616 Original Wolverine they never declared when he was really born , Xavier made a Guess that he was over 300 years old , its just a guess but knowing how uncharted Wolverine Healing factor was he could be a lot older . So a set time as 1812 is no biggie .Wolverine could of been born in the 1600 or even before that .

i just hope they bring the writers before the Events of Heroes Reborn back to fix this Whole Bendis / Quesada Nurfin Crap .

Are you STILL going on about that "uncharted" healing factor fan wank? You're as bad as the Cassie Cain fans elevating her body reading to telepathic precognition.

I don't care if you don't like that Origins conflated 616 and Ultimate Logan's origins (by the way, you got a source on that? Everything from Marvel says it's explicitly 616). It doesn't matter WHEN it was published. It's CANON. If it says Wolverine was born in the middle/late-1800s, then he was born in the middle/late-1800s. YOU don't get to define canon. Marvel does. Period.

Even after All the Cerebro Scans , Beast Examination , Apoc Greymalking tech trying to break it down Alien Scans & even his blood drop going to cosmic levels after touching a godly Gem .

Lets take you back to this " Old Man " James "Logan Origin " Story , There was an event called Heroes Reborn , dont know if you just started collecting comicbooks now but way before the age of Noobtopia , there was an event called Heroes Reborn , which was a Universe created by Franklyn Richards after the Events of Onslaught , This then gave birth to the Ultimate Universe , Marketable This universe was used to spew a lot of Hollywood Xmen Movies because it bypassed alot of Original Writers Fees that Hollywood would have to pay .

Now Then came forth the Ultimate Universe Version of Wolverine , which is not 5'3 but 6'1 & the origin & grade of his adamantium was different , this giving the readers a perspective of a " What if " this & that didnt happen the way it did .

Then soon after came the story " Old Man Logan " which was written after the events of Ultimate Universe . The comicbook issue gained so much popularity that they started leaking its origins to the 616 Universe & therefore thats why Old Man Logan is just a Marketing tool to Franchise on other peoples work like Marc Silvestri without paying them .

So you see my noob friend stop spewing Wikipedia stuff and actually go out to your friendly neighborhood local comicbook store & do some back issue research , just cause some random Writer comes in & gets hired to find a loop hole so hollywood wont have to pay the original writers dont mean its cannon , its just a supplement marketing tool that would prolly get retconn in the latter run .
