Pretty much confirms my theory. Danny not being able to use his chi is a mental problem and not to do with Kun L'un being destroyed.

The first issue makes it feel like that Danny is entering mortal kombat.

They gotta get rid of this Adidas looking costume and give him back some classic threads, goddamn that purple shit is ugly.

This looks amazing! Much like the Immortal iron Fist run! I loved what Kaare ANdrews did too, so I am hoping that this will be a bit of a mix between the two series. Between Immortal, Living Weapon, Power Man and Iron Fist, the upcoming Iron Fists with Kaare Andrews, it's a good time to be a fan. I'd love another Immortal Weapons series. Let Shang Chi run around with them for a bit

@dedpool: I have a whole Shang Chi solo book planned out in my head called Shang Chi: Mortal Weapon that introduces him into Iron Fists world.

The first issue was a bit slow, but things look like they're picking up. I'm getting a real Immortal Iron Fist vibe here, which has me all giddy like a schoolgirl on rohypnol.

@jonny_anonymous: oh they know each other. They helped Wolverine with his martial arts skills when he lost his healing factor. And I believe he was hanging with the Immortal Weapons for a little bit.

@dedpool: Oh I know, I just meant he would be made the formal Mortal Weapon of Earth (as opposed to the Immortal Weapons of the Heavenly Cities).

Basically, since the last Tournament of the Capital Cities of Heaven was called off because of Hydra a new one would start but Danny Rand has the idea that to stop anything like that happening again there should be a warrior chosen to represent the mortal realm. So a secret martial arts tournament is organised called the Tournament of Mortal Weapons with all of Marvel Earth's greatest fighters attending. Shang Chi wins and is proclaimed the Mortal Weapon of Earth and he is awarded the White Tiger amulet to signify this (the White Tiger represents the "West" and is a nomadic protector in Chinese Mythology) Through all of this Shang is being attacked by random assassins like Lord Deathstrike and he has no idea why.

That's basically the first half of the story. The second half involves Shang representing Earth in the Capital Cities Tournament. The Monkey King taking his place as the Immortal Weapon of the Eight City. Shang getting his rematch against the Gorgon and Shang Chi's father Zu Zheng, launching a coup of one of the Heavenly Cities and it all culminates with a battle between Shang Chi riding on the back of Shao-Lu the Undying fighting his father who is riding on the back of Fin Fang Foom.

@jonny_anonymous: that would be Glorious! But wouldn't it make more sense for him to be riding some giant Tiger Spirit or something? Also love the addition of the Monkey King!

@jonny_anonymous: Loved everything about your idea, but I'm not sure how I feel about Shang having the amulets. I rather Hectir come back lol

@daredevil21134: Totally, I actually agree. The way I see it Shang only reluctantly takes the amulet so that he can compete in the Capital Cities Tournament and once it's finished he gives it back, as he would think if he is to be the Mortal Weapon then he should fight like a mortal.

Probably. I just want to see Fin Fang Foom fighting Shao-Lu the Undying. Yeah, the Legendary Handsome Monkey King was a cool character, I wish Marvel would do more with him.

@jonny_anonymous: wait, what? Marvel already actually has a version of the Monkey King? How did I not know about this. Details please?

And Shou Lou versus Fin Fang Foom would be amazing. But dude that sounds like a great comic!

im not impressed with the story so far. Danny already lost his chi\kung fu with the kaare andrews mini. now we are back to it again!? that first fight was stupid. why not have him go look for the eighth capital city?
