Exclusive First Look: UNCANNY X-MEN #19

So how did Mystique survive after getting a handfull of bulletts ripped through her body and then having a building collapse on her again? I'm honestly surprised that even Blob and Sabretooth survived that nonsense.

Kudos to those who posted in favour of being allowed to express your opinion without getting insulted. It's starting to becoming a microcosm of world conflict here. Person A posts "I don't like this comic". Person B posts "Person A, you're a moron and your opinion is garbage". Then Person A reacts and things get silly. And way off topic. It would be nice if people could be friendlier here and focus on the comics, not our differing opinions.

Back to the issue at hand, I've never been a fan of Bachalo and his art on the X-books. Personally, if Marvel could clone Stuart Immonen and have him, er them, draw every Marvel title, then I'd be in heaven.

As far as Bachalo's art goes, I look at it the same way I look at Frazer Irving's art it's good in it's own way but seems to be better off in titles that fit the style. So when the topic of Uncanny X-men is focusing on the students and whatever situation they go through I don't mind Bachalo's art as normally these moments tend to require that amount of light hearted feel but in regards to moments like Cyke's "revolution" I don't really feel that Bachalo's work fits. I mean I'm not saying a toony look can't fit for serious stories (Capullo comes to mind) I just think Bachalo's art just seems more fitting for a title like WatX.

Definitely looking forward to this. The whole book has been great so far and I love Chris Bachalo's art!

I'm mostly interested in finding out what happened to Eva. I mean, I'm pretty sure she got "lost in time" (hence the longer hair and different way she treats her teammates) but I want to know what happened during said being lost in time. Oh, and it was really disappointing, having Hijack get kicked out of the X-Men...

No. I compared you stating it's your right to laugh at others in an attempt to delineate the difference between being an arrogant pr!ck in so doing, or simply sharing a difference of opinion. Thought obvious was obvious.

All you did was not just state a difference of opinion. You looked down your nose and "laughed" at those who's opinion was different than yours in so doing, then defended your right to do so. To which I stated, while you might have a right to do so, that's being a d!ck all the same, and will most likely get you smacked should you do so to someone's face. Art is taste. you may like something that someone else does not like, and vice versa.

I also ain't fan raging, because last time I checked in order for me to be a fan of something I would actually have to like it, which sure as hell ain't the case here. However, I am raging because this is torture to Uncanny X-Men readers with any sort of taste for art.ALso, I do kick boxing and strength and endurance training outside of a traditional gym because gyms are for guys with steroids and small penises who look at the mirror all day and Zen yoga is for my Girlfriend and her gay friends not me.With that being said, as a consumer of comics and a fan of the x-men and Spider-Man that Ramos and Bachalo consistently butchers every issue I have the right to say what I want.

I don't give out positive reinforcement. I also don't do political correctness. If I find something silly I will say so. You yourself said you 'Can't understand all the folks who have a problem with it.' in reference to Bachalos art. Once more I will agree with you that it is a subjective topic so no need to say that again.

All I did was state my opposing opinion. If you have a problem with my phraseology then I can't help you.

Lastly 'bud' you don't know me. Commenting on whether I would get smacked in the face for stating my opinion is a territory only ignorant people enter. If you think having an attitudinal approach will get you smacked you should also note that misjudging people you interact with can lead to the same.

And you're entitled to your opinion. It's obviously something you feel strongly about. So y'know what? Don't pick up the book. I can understand your frustration if you like the characters, like the story, but are completely turned off by the artwork. I get it. And I take no exception to it. As long as you don't ridicule and piss all over the right of others to actually appreciate it.

Folks who have differing opinions don't need the fan rage. Leave em in peace and write a scathing letter to Marvel. Go to the gym or try Yoga. Maybe a little Zen Meditation?

Sure. It's "your right". Folks can act like d!cks all they want. It just makes em d!cks all the same. Prisons are filled with folks who felt like all kinds of @sshat acts were "their right".

Your schtick is simply oozing with condescension and arrogance ... belittling the opinions of others, especially when there is no objective way to prove yours as better than theirs, (art and its appreciation is purely subjective). Coming off as though you can, because it so happens to be "your almighty opinion" is just weak.

Try and exercise that attitudinal approach in "real life" and see what that wins you bud. Probably a few smacks in the mouth for starters. Cause and effect. Can do and say what you please, and howsoever you please, long as you're willing to face the consequences.

@super_soldierxii: Agreed, Bachalos art is unique....it's as Ultron345 said "unique piece of Garbage". Bachalo is Uncanny X-men's greatest. Villain as he is destroying this title and Humberto Ramos is one of Spider-mans consistent threats.

It is my right to laugh at others opinions as it is yours to laugh at mine. In something as you yourself accurately said is subjective I don't need to be politically correct and act as though I respect an opinion I clearly don't. If you think it is 'poor taste' to laugh at something you find ridiculous just because another person said it then in my not so humble opinion you are just sensitive.

And folks who are drowning in their own self-importance enough to think their opinion somehow overrides those of others make me laugh. What "makes it good" for one, then perhaps not so good for another, is very much a matter of subjective taste.

So laugh away. It changes nothing, save perhaps to showcase ones own arrogance.

Fact is, his art is unique. Whether for one person it's mediocre, for another terrible and then for another it's the bomb is a matter of personal aesthetic taste. You're welcome to yours.

One thing's for certain, ridiculing or "laughing at" the opinion of others is, quite simply, poor taste any which way you look at it.

Bachalos art is by no means the worst. But these people saying he is one of the best just make me laugh. Just because something is 'unique' and his its 'own style' doesn't make it good. You can have unique pieces of garbage. Everytime i see some of those typical leggo square heads drawn by Bachalo it instantly serves as a reasoning behind me NEVER buying a book he does the art for. Same for Humberto Ramos. Call me crazy but i like seeing art that is clean and realistic looking.

Bachalos art is garbage!!! You wanna know good art? Simone Bianchi, Jim Lee, Mike Deadato, David Finch,Brett Booth,Shane Davis,Frank Cho, Marc Silvestri,Kurt Busiek,Marco Checchetto, Nelson Decastro,Miguel Sepulveda,Stefano Caselli and. Nicola Scott

These are just a few artists that are top tier for me, artist who are NOT and are just GARBAGE are people like John. Romita. Jr, Jefte Paulo,Humberto. Ramos,Toony Moore, to name a few.....When I read people's comments about the latter and they are hyping them and placing them on a high pedestal talking about how "unique" there art is it's like hairing shallow Hal talk about how beautiful his girlfriend is -_-

At the end of the day art is subjective and we all have different tastes but some stuff are just obvious garbage.

This art really isn't that bad. It's just not the art people are used to for the X-Men. It's quite nice art. The coloring is just a tad dark, that may be what bothers people.

Also, the inconsistency over Cyke's physique kind of bothers me. Is he slim or is he jacked?! hehehe

Regardless, love this series, it's one of the best. In honor of Goldballs....

i got hurry up and catch up on this series.

Count me among the Chris Bachalo supporters. I think this books looks amazing. Bachalo has to be one of my favorite artists right now, if not my favorite.

He's the Mutant Saviour of the DAMN ECONOMY

Why does everyone hate Bachalo? I love his work, has a ton of expressionism and energy to his linework which many artists fail to capture.

I was under the impression she was in her twenties...at least early twenties. Still, I personally doubt its actually going to happen. Right now they are just playing up the "student crush on teacher" angle.

either way though, without knowing whats being said its definitely jumping to conclusions...im personally more interested in finding out whats up with Hijack. He knows where the Xavier school is....and Scott just kicks him out when he knows full well SHIELD can find him. No way, something is up

One) she's in her teens. Two) We have no idea what they are saying. Until we get some words on the panels, I'd say it's jumping to conclusions.

Huh, looks like Hijack was a S.H.I.E.L.D. plant the whole time. Interesting. I'm looking forward to the upcoming X-Men vs. S.H.I.E.L.D. arc a lot.

Chris Bachalo's art is awesome. Can't understand all the folks who have a problem with it. Adds a new stylistic approach in a medium that all to often lacks such. For me, the top dogs are

1. Joe Mad

2. Kubert bros

3. Bachalo

And in that order.
