Exclusive First Look: HULK #3

I'm interested, but this looks really depressing in many ways. I just hope it isn't repeating/following the same plot/marketing strategy and Jen dies as well, of course she'll be replaced with someone 'progressive' and 'diverse', etc., etc.

Because she is no longer She-Hulk. She-Hulk was perfect. All the strengths, none of the out of control anger. Now she is messed up because of having been in coma and having her cousin killed by a man she considered a good and close friend. She is now a "normal" hulk

I forgot about the time when Bruce was in control and he was known as He-Hulk.

So what's with all the scars? Is that supposed to represent all the damage she's taken emotionally?

If so, then that's weird. Considering how messed up Bruce was, and Hulk never looked all scared up or whatever.

I thought the scars came from the accident that put her in the hospital.

Question: Has nothing pissed her off more before than what has set her to be this way now? Hasn't Bruce "died" before? I'm not understanding what's gotten her so angry, she suddenly can't control herself.

Maybe Hulk will *actually appear* in this issue. I mean, the series is called 'Hulk,' right? And that's what they're selling.

Enough with these damn teaser covers!! Put the Hulk in the damn story already!!

There's something I'm wondering, as far as I've seen, no other Hulk or She-Hulk beside Bruce ( and now I guess Cho? ) was able to go from the human form to the Hulk form, especially not She-Hulk, so how did she go back to her human form?

*Sigh* I don't enjoy this new direction. She-Hulk is the only Hulk I genuinely like and one of my favorite heroes... And the She-Hulk I know is happy and fun (and occasionally breaking the 4th wall before it was cool :p I'm looking at you, Deadpool). This is not She-Hulk. Current Marvel and their decisions, man. Damn.

Let her out of that headlock, Hulk. We want She-Hulk.

Marketing is my guess. They might figure that more people will be a Hulk title than a She-hulk title.

I think it has a lot to do with Clint murdering Bruce and then walking away from the charge, Jen is a lawyer after all, she might actually believe in the system (though why considering what the mu laws are like is a mystery to me). I'm still wondering why she doesn't hint Clint and Carol with wrongful death suits, that is something a lawyer would do.

Honestly, I can't say enough good stuff about this title so far. I love Jen and to see such a cool, fascinating new take on her character coming to life like this is fantastic. It's pretty obvious she will be a gray She-Hulk in this series, and in the same way Bruce was very different as gray Hulk, this too will reflect a different take on Jen's character. To be honest I hope they stretch this out as much as possible, and don't rush back to quickly get her back to normal, perky green Jen again.

Is this series a comedy or a drama?

This book wants it both ways but can't have it. You can't frame each issue to be shown in an anxious angst filled way, then try to inject fun or cookiness as well. Depression and PTSD aren't exactly comedy fodder this direction was never a good one for Jen a fun loving character and the humor bits that are supposed to break the tedious downer tone fall flat just like this concept has so far.

Why can't Marvel put Peter Parker in Jennifer's world as he's one of the few people who whose been in her situation, as well as the fact that he was once The Spider-Hulk.

What would be good to see is Peter Parker as a reoccurring guest...

It's a drama that attempts to add awkward humor to break tension.

Because talent.

First off, that was a retcon. Secondly, there were times he was in control before that. He was in control (for the most part) during the Secret War as well as the time the Champion came to Earth and threatened to destroy it if he couldn't be beaten in a boxing match.

Do you not know anything about She-Hulk aka Jennifer Walters?

She was the first to have complete control over her transformation, by not only being able to freely go in an out of her Hulk form, but also able to retain her state of mind.

Course now that's nothing unique to her, as others can do the same. But she was the first to do it.

In the Hulk animated series back in the 90's, season 2 had Bruce with two Hulks. The classic Savage Hulk we all know and love... And the thuggish, cunning, street smart Grey Hulk AKA Joe Fixit. Whenever he got angry from that point it was a crapshoot on which Hulk would come out and even then if Grey Hulk got TOO mad? Savage Hulk came out to play. And I think that's an idea that could work for Jen here. Two sides of her self fighting

She-Hulk being the idealistic heroine she wants to be, as she's always been, and this new Hulk persona being the burning seething rage she feels at the current state of affairs. Again I like the basic idea here, it plays into what Peter David introduced into the Hulk mythos, but I think taking the fun She-Hulk out COMPLETELY is a mistake. Like she's trying to be Jen more which is fine and CAN go She-Hulk, and often does but in BOTH forms there's that.... One persona in the back of her mind that's waiting for either form to get angry.

Who's the other person on the roof?

Oh there are WORSE things happened to her. This is just a weak/convinient explaination to turn Jen into another anger-ridden, angsty Hulk.

I usualy prefer Jen to be funny and silly but I got to admit she is damn hot when she is scary and bulky.

@dark_stranger: Idk I haven't read she hulk, but like, every time I see a preview of her last comic, she was in she hulk form, even while as a lawyer, she was in she hulk form in every comic I've reqd that I saw her in, never-ever in human form, even when working or just having regular fun.

I hope she gets a power-up.

The art is amazing. The series looks amazing too.

That cover worries me, because one of the reasons I support this book is due to it playing with the concept, but not ultimately ripping off Hulk and Bruce's duality. That cover seems to be hinting at it though.

Just a summary of the plot so far:

Jen is fighting mood swings, she probably has a really monstrous case of menstruation.

That's it. There is no plot.

Now in other news: Doc Samson becomes the new She-Hulk...

First off, the whole Proffessor Hulk thing is a fan name given to him, it's not something mentioned in the comics, in the comics he was sometimes referred to as merged Hulk. You know why? Because he was a merger of Savage Hulk, Joe Fixit and Banner and not at all a Hulk with just Banner in control.

Secondly there are several occasions where Bruce is in control and he was still simply called the Hulk, for instance the Hulk that held the 150 billion ton mountain was actually Banner in full control, even during WWH and after it was alluded that Banner and Hulk where actually one in the same. There are also several other instances where Banner took control but nobody called him anything other than Hulk.

The change of She Hulk title to Hulk title is an amalgam of a few things, most important one being that we currently don't have a Hulk title. I mean we have a garbage fake Hulk title that is barely selling 22k copies each month and dropping, so Marvel is hoping they might grab back all the Hulk fans that left. And looking by the sales of the first "Hulk" issue with Jen they definitely did since it sold around 90k copies, though i suspect it wont last, so far the books been meh.

People need to realize that before anything else, money comes first. Their virtue signaling isn't gonna pay their bills, actual cash will so they will do anything they can and pander to anyone possible if it means they will sell more copies of an issue.

They're just using old material with this series, same thing like with bruce, different personality changes and she becomes bigger and more mean when she "hulks out" from being regular she hulk.

They need to bring banner back already...

Lame. Am I the only one who thinks that it looks like a rejected pilot ep for an ABC drama?

So do they ever explain why Jen is still working despite her condition? I mean if I knew that I was now going to turn into a giant brute of mass destruction every time I got really stressed out I would probably avoid doing something as incredibly stressful as working as a lawyer.

The series is good so far, sprinkle in a little Hellcat, even better!

@bh6shouldhavehadsilversamurai: Her job is actually what is keeping her calm. By going back to her usual routine, she feels as if she can go back to her normal life. In fact most of the stress has happened outside of her office/work. Of course distractions can only last so long, so we shall see.
