Exclusive: BATMAN #34 Cover and Solicit Reveal

@batmanonthemoon: Well to tell the truth I have only read the 11 issues (Court of owls storyline). I have seen quite a lot of Death of the Family and did not like it. I will not judge it now because after all I have not read the main story by Scott Snyder. For some time now I have actually been reading through Grant Morrison's Batman epic and it is really epic. This is seriously one of the greatest character runs I have ever read. I am on the return of Bruce Wayne right now (the 5th issue) so I still have Batman INC volume 1 and 2. After that I maybe will read Death of the family and Zero Year. Also I am not really hyped about Zero Year. Why do we need another retelling of Batman's origins? I have not read it and it may be really good but I just don't know.

@zelos797: I can see how someone would dislike his style... Well actually, I can't. But you are certainly entitled to your opinion. And hey this issue would be a great one for you to pick up then, right?

@drellassassin: Fair enough. I just do not dig his art. I also hate how he drew Gotham. Not Gothic at all.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions when it comes to art, but I think you may be insane.

Glad Zero Year is ending. It's cool and all, but after a while, I lost some interest and wasn't as stoked. I've seen how Batman became Batman many times and his early years often enough, so I'd like to see where he is now.

I fully understand Capullo taking a month off after all the extra pages Zero Year has been demanding, yet that doesn't make me any less disappointed...

Finally! It feels like Zero Year is beginning to drag just a bit… I was "this" close to dropping Batman, however, this solicit and gorgeous cover has reenergized my excitement! :D

As good a time as any for me to pick back up with Batman then I suppose? I don't think I can commit to keeping up with Eternal though I'd like to...

Okay am I the only one who does not AT ALL dig Capullo's art? I think I kind of am but I still have a right for am opinion and I say that in my opinion his art is SO not cup of tea. I hate how draws Bruce Wayne out of the Batman suit, I hate how he draws almost every character who is not wearing a costume. I think that his Batman is also a bit short but that can just be me and in my opinion it does not capture an essence of the Batman and I know that he probably tried something different but I don't like his art and for the most part think that it takes away from the story.

@2cool4fun: He is, but he usually gets one issue off at the end of an arc (see issue 12, 18).

Glad to see that Greg Capullo gets a break after Zero Year, that dude has been working tirelessly for the last year.

He's a killer, he along with the court of owls killed many in gotham in secret for years, then he killed the court of owls and tried to kill batman.

It's definitely not Hush. Snyder has stated this is a new villain for a new story arc so it's got nothing to do with Hush unfortunately. And I'm not a big fan of Scalera personally. His Secret Avengers and Indestructible Hulk work did not look easy on the eye due to the messy inking. I'd opt for Detective Comics over this for a proper mystery story.

I could always see Matteo Scalera on a Bat title ever since I first saw his art on Secret Avengers. His gritty grainy smokey style would make a great fit for the cape crusader. I'm sure this is just a breather issue to give Greg Capullo a break.

Is Scalera human or a machine? Either way I'll pick this up. This guy is one hell of an artist.

He should team up with Rafael Albuquerque! Their styles are similar and beautiful.

Ah the way I read the synopsis I thought it meant that it would be dealing with the aftermath of Batman Eternal. So I guess this will be in conjunction with it.

@jakkoaks: exactly. usually after an arc, there is some fill in story or issues where Capullo takes a break, in this case it might be this arc, but Capullo is just taking a break

My first thought was "holy crap it's Hush!!!!!!!" but then I remembered Snyder saying in the past that the first arc after Zero Year was going to be a short arc featuring a newly created villain. So my guess is…this ain't Hush :\

Of course Batman is still going on. Batman Eternal is a separate title entirely. Batman is a monthly ongoing while Batman Eternal is a 52 Week weekly series.

So... wait, is Batman still going? I thought Batman Eternal was going to be the next arc, not a separate book.

I love dialogue in comics. The more dialogue the better.

I don't like zero year because it's a disaster. It isn't fun and screws with the origin for no reason. There is absolutely no improvement on previous origin stories and quiet a few problems. The take on the Riddler has been the most interesting part, yet I can't wait for it to be over.

@g_man: The suspense was absolutely killing me. I couldn't take anymore of this "will be keep Batman on his pull list ooorr will he drop it?!" *whew!*' Glad that's resolved!

I know! We have talk about Zero Year a couple times.

That Bats looks a bit like the Noel costume. I was expecting that for Affleck's costume, not Miller's version.

I will be doing the opposite actually. Picking it up once again!

Also, I'm not picking up Batman Eternal since it's weekly and I simply can't afford that. I hope it doesn't tie in too much and I'll be lost without reading it.
