In the previous issue, Lex Luthor claimed to be the protector of Metropolis, after the death of Superman. However, another Superman is there to stop Lex, but he isn't the biggest threat. Doomsday, the beast that once killed Superman, is back. The stakes are high, right off the bat, so we're excited to see the outcome of this upcoming epic battle.

The Rebirth issue of Aquaman brought the character a bit more towards his roots, while delivering something that felt contemporary. The mythos and lore that surrounds the character and his home of Atlantis are back. Now, writer Dan Abnett and artist Brad Walker start a new adventure. It seems like there will once again be tension between people of Atlantis and the surface world.

Flash #1

Barry Allen is having trouble juggling being the Flash, his personal life, and work. He's become overwhelmed. However, there is a new speedster that could be a help to the hero. What is most exciting about the revamp of this character is that Joshua Williamson is writing. His books, Nailbiter and Birthright over at Image Comics, are brilliant, and hopefully, he brings some of that magic to this series.

James Bond #7

  • Written by Warren Ellis

This Dynamite series has really captured the essence of who and what James Bond is all about. Warren Ellis and Jason Masters have really crafted something exciting, elevating the world of espionage in comics. Issue #7 marks a new arc to the book, so if you've been looking to check James Bond out, this is a perfect time to pick it up.

Mighty Thor #8

  • Published by Marvel Comics

  • Art by Russell Dauterman

For the past couple of issues, we've seen a pretty entertaining fill-in story about a Norse king who prayed to Thor. Now, we're back in the present, following the adventures of Jane Foster as Thor. This should be a great jumping-on point for new readers, and it will deal with Thor taking on SHIELD, so it should be a pretty exciting issue. In addition, artist Russell Dauterman is back doing the art with Matthew Wilson on colors, so this should be a gorgeous-looking book.

Power Man and Iron Fist #5

  • Published by Marvel Comics
  • Written by David Walker
  • Art by Flaviano Armentaro

This issue of Power Man and Iron Fist is looking to be a bizarre one. It's going to revolve around a radio DJ taking calls from people who have seen the duo in action. Although this series is only five issues in, writer David Walker has really given this series a strong, unique voice. It has a quirky, buddy-cop attitude, and it's a comic every fan should have on their pull list.

Ultimates #8

  • Published by Marvel Comics
  • Written by Al Ewing
  • Art by Kenneth Rocafort

The superhero team, The Ultimates, have the task of stopping threats before they reach Earth or have a chance to become threats. Obviously, because Civil War II deals with a character that could eventually become a threat, this should be a key book for the overall event. Aside from that, this has been an awesome series that is well-written and looks beautiful.
