It feels like we've been hearing about a possible Ant-Man movie by Edgar Wright for some time. The lastest word was the movie would see a 2015 release as part of Marvel's "Phase Three" films.
In a recent interview, Edgar Wright gave some updates on the project. What type of feel with this movie have?
It’s a way of doing a superhero film within another genre. I wanted to tell an origin tale in a slightly different way. It’s part of the Marvel cinematic universe, but it also feels like its own piece.
One of the reasons it has taken Wright so long is he wanted to make two other movies first. It may end up being a better movie the longer he waits.
But to be honest, the later I do it, it feels like I could learn more, especially about special effects. It’s a big effects movie, so I’m pleased to go into it having done Scott Pilgrim and The World’s End because you’re always learning more about that side.
Wright also commented about his favorite Marvel movie, in which he responded Iron Man and The Avengers.
It might be hard to wait for this movie to happen but it could be for the best. It'll be important for the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to continue to develop so that Ant-Man can find his own little corner while having connections to the rest as well. Hopefully we'll start to hear more progress on this as film approaches. 2015 is going to be a crazy year for movies.
