Doctor Who's Greatest Villains Revealed

Who are the Doctor's most infamous villains? New infographic reveals all.

Doctor Who has been on for decades. In fact, it's been on television for 50 years. Sure, between the late 80s and early 00s, the only time we saw the Doctor was in a Fox movie where Sylvester McCoy was shot to death in America, but still, 50 years is a lot of time. Anyway, during the show's run, there have been a crazy amount of great villains. Luckily, a new infographic from WallpaperDirect showcases some of the best villains around.

Doctor Who returns to BBC and BBC America on 19 September 2015.

I wouldn't call it a reveal, as it's kinda obvious that they are.

Nice poster anyway.

Okay, if we're including the Sensorites on this, shouldn't we include The Beast, too?

@catty_spider1: Could make a case of Davros replacing any one of those 3 as he like the Master is one of few who can outwit the Doctor.

I thought Davros was great (and the actor was brilliant) in Genesis of the Daleks but I always thought that was a perfect ending for him, being murdered by his own creation. They didn't need to bring him back after that.

Sadly most Doctor who foes have that perfect finale then they go and resurrect them again and again. Rumor has it Davros will return in season 9.

Any one know how the Master came back as Missy? I don't know if i missed it or if no one knows yet. After the 10th Doctor Special he looked pretty dead to me.

Okay I am going to explain this as I remember it but if I am wrong i apologies. So Master was in time war but he fled and hid at the end of cosmos as that old professor, he regenerates takes over earth then dies. He is resurrected but it failed and he was burning through his life force and the last time we saw him he was pushing the Time Lord leader back into the time locked war.

Then Missy happens and I do not think we were given any explanation on how she escaped, how she could regenerate as the resurrection was imperfect and that Master was burning through his life too fast and was not able to save himself via a regen. Maybe it will be explored in season 9 but I know the Doctor did not seem to be asking any question about it. (Might be used to old foes returning at this stage.)

Let's set the record straight on this - the "master" in the "new" Doctor Who is NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES The Master. The Master does NOT take a human wife. The Master does NOT dance. The Master is NOT female (blatant politically correct pandering if I've ever seen it!). Davies and Moffet have both stated their dislike (read: inability to properly write) The Master. Fine, chuck your ego at the door and let people who can actually write compelling, complex storylines involving The Master have a chance. The Master has always been the antithesis to The Doctor. The Daleks, The Cyberman (the other two main villains) are trouble for The Doctor due to their numbers. Plain and simple. The Master is much more subtle as confrontations with him are a test of wits between two master strategists. The Master is probably the only person in the Universe that The Doctor respects/fears/sees as an equal. Written properly (as he used to be) the character allows for far more character development/acting/reaction than the "monster of the week" formula. As in the past, The Master is best utilized on a limited basis (for increased value) so go ahead and keep your "monster of the week" episodes you seem to love so much. The abuse of The Master is far from the only issue the "new" Doctor Who suffers from but it is the most offensive and the truly sad when you realize all the potential the REAL Master presents if properly introduced into the "new" series.
