Could the lost first season episodes exist in the country?
To this day, there are still a lot of the first season episodes of Doctor Who that are missing. io9 has reported that the African nation of Zimbabwe could actually have those missing episodes. Of the first 752 episodes, 108 are still unaccounted for. In the 70s, the BBC erased several of the early episodes in a move meant to save money during a time when the economy was down. Bootleg copies may exist for these episodes but the quality would, obviously, be subpar.
The British newspaper, The Sun, claims that the country of Zimbabwe could be the key to the missing episodes. The country bought the first season for broadcast during the mid-60s and those tapes may still exist. The BBC have not been allowed to enter the country to discover what exactly still exists since President Robert Mugabe has banned all BBC personnel from entering the country.
Will we ever get a chance to see the first Doctor again?
