@allstarsuperman: This constitutes bad art? This sh*t is f*ckin' GORGEOUS! Ian Bertram is like Frank Quietly, Juan Jose Ryp and Ramon Villalobos all rolled into one.

Is also terrible, his art in Nightwing 17 and 18 was awful, and also made those storys the lowest point in New52 nightwings series.

Those were my two favorite issues of Nightwing. I think you just have rigid taste in art my man, but it's no surprise. I'm always butting heads with Viners over unconventional art. Tell me specifically what is bad about Bertram or Ryp's art.

WAHT? Why, how can you like those issues more then the Night of Owls tie ins, or issue 7 the final fight with Saiko? I even liked 15 were Joker blows the crap outta Haly's circus considerably more then those 2 issues. Also notice how all the issues I like were drawn by Eddy Barrows, yeah I like him.

I have a strict taste in art is more like it. I like the perfect blend of realism and cartoony (obviously a person opinion), I like Eddy Barrows (Minus the fact he constantly forgets to draw all 4 finger and thumb), I like Gary Frank (Even though his faces aren't the prettiest thing you ever saw), I like Lee Bermejo especially his Batman, Wonder Woman, and Daredevil, I like Dan Jurgens especially his Superman and Booster Gold, he is very classic and clean, The most recent art I have found to really enjoy is Emanuela Lupacchino's:

She's not a bad lookin girl either.

Berthams is way to disproportional and line-y, Ryp's makes people look sad or angry and wrinkly.

The more I see Harley in the New 52, the less I like her current costume. Still, the last two covers are great.

@allstarsuperman: I've been diggin' on Luppachino's art since her run on X-Factor. I'm not saying I dislike any of the artists you named, though I think Eddy Barrows sometimes draws torsos too long, but that typical superhero art style tends to wear a little thin when you've been reading comics since the late 80's. It's artists like Ian Bertram, Juan Jose Ryp, Ramon Villalobos or Rafael Grampa that catch my eye because their art is so outside the box. If you think Bertram and Ryp's art is ugly checkout Iain Laurie's work. This guy is killing it on what might be my favorite book of the year, And Then Emily Was Gone

@longbowhunter: I don't really like the art you posted, its not badly done, its just not for me. I looked up Rafael Grampa I like it a lot actually, he has a really cool punisher picture. What do you think about the TMNT artist Mateus Santolouco?

Hahaha! That's why I posted it. Iain Laurie's people are as ugly as his creatures, I love it. I'm a big fan of Mateus Santolouco. Dial H was a mad f*ckin' trip.

most of those covers are awful. Just ugly art. I like the Tiny Titans & the first bam/pow one from newsrama, the cupid one from CBR.

People would actually pay for the other garbage?

I know it's been weeks but I ran across this on Twitter and couldn't resist sharing your boy Bermejo's opinion of Ian Bertram.

@allstarsuperman: Have you heard the term "an artist's artist"? I heard it a while back. It refers to artists other artists like, but the general comic buying audience does not. Ian Bertram, Javier Pulito, etc...

@longbowhunter: Bertram is awesome, I've been hooked on his work since he did a short for 'Tec #27. Really wish he'd work on an ongoing that I'm interested in.

That was where I first saw him too. I hate that he just does an issue of this or that. I'd like to see him on an ongoing too.

Curios, are you familiar with Moebius, Enki Bilal, Richard Corben and Guy Davis?

@billy_batson: Not familiar with Enki Bilal, but yes, I'm a fan of the others. I've never read the Incal or any of Moebius's big works but I dig him. Guy Davis was awesome on Sandman Mystery Theatre and I loved Corben's work on Hellboy: The Crooked Man. I'm curious to check out Rat God.

@longbowhunter:

Have you read Davis' The Marquis series? You should check out The Nikopol Trilogy, The Hunting Party or the Black Order Brigade for Bilal. There's a pretty well priced version of the Incal from Selfmadehero if you're interested. Taiyō Matsumoto's artstyle might be to your liking as well.
