Bruce Willis And Morgan Freeman To Star In 'Red'

Warren Ellis' espionage thriller hits the big screen!

It always seems more promising when a movie has a cast of really successful actors, it almost gives the audience hope that the film will be good. This is exactly how I first felt when I got wind of the people who are are set to be behind the film version of 'Red'. With an already stellar cast that includes Morgan Freeman and Bruce Willis, the film based on the successful three issue comic book series written by Warren Ellis, already looks promising. According to firstshowing.net, not only do they have a cast ready, but the script has also been completed by Erich and Jon Hoeber ( Whiteout). The film will be produced by Summit series and will be overseen by Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Mark Vahradian and DC Comics' Gregory Noveck. While the film does not yet have a director, I imagine that with the number of people already involved in its production, it is only a matter of time.

The comic book, written by Ellis who's other successful works include Marvel's Civil War, Anna Mercury, X-Men, Batman as well as a number of his own concepts, wrote 'Red' back in 2003 as a three part issue series. The story focuses on a retired CIA agent who has long since retired and who's identity has been compromised. In order to protect his identity as well as the life of his love interest, he is forced to reconvene his former espionage team in order to uncover who is blackmailing them. Did you read the series? Are you looking forward to seeing Morgan Freeman and Bruce Willis team up to get this story onto the big screen?
