DC Comics made a huge announcement today as they made Bob Harras Editor-In-Chief, VP of DC Comics.  DC Comics, DC Universe, MAD Magazine, and Vertigo will not oversee all the editorial for these. It will be based in New York City and reporting to the co-publishers. The last Editor-in-Chief was Jenette Kahn from 1981-2002, and it's been almost a decade since anyone has held the position.

Prior to this new job, Bob was the Group Editor, Collected Editions at DC Comics. Jim Lee, DC Comics Co-Publisher, had this to say about Bob:

Bob Harras’ personal and creative integrity is respected and renowned throughout the comic book industry...As an editor, he provides invaluable insight into storytelling and character.”

Dan Didio, also DC Comics Co-Publisher, has a few words about the legendary Bob Harras as they made their announcement today.

"We could not be more excited to make this announcement...Bob is a tremendous evaluator of talent, character and story. He is a proven leader who brings a keen understanding of the marketplace to the position.”

Before his stint at DC Comics, he was Marvel's Editor-In-Chief, from 1995-2000, during which time the company almost went bankrupt (1996-1997), which wasn't Harras fault since Marvel seemed to be having huge problems prior to this. Harras, however, helped bring Marvel comics into a new age, and he could do the same thing for DC: Ushering in a new decade of great stories, characters, and comics. What do you guys think? Is giving Bob the job a good idea? How will he do?
