During the Diamond Retailers Summit this week, DC made an announcement about what we can expect in Blackest Night starting this January. According to a report from IGN, the series will be skipping a January issue of Blackest Night in order to give artist Ivan Reis plenty of time to work on the final two issues in the series. Fear not, however, for you will get your fill of what has been a fantastic and riveting series!

DC will be taking fans back to the Silver Age of comics, choosing eight stories which either ended or had been canceled, and breathe new life into them once again. The issues will continue their numbering (i.e. if the issue ended at "six" it will pick up at "seven") and will be resurrected for the month of January. Each story will be featured during Blackest Night.

The following books will make their return and written by the following writers:

The Power of Shazam #48 - Eric Wallace
Catwoman #83 - Fabian Nicieza
Suicide Squad #67 - Gail Simone & John Ostrander
The Question #37 - Greg Rucka
Phantom Stranger #42 - Peter Tomasi
Weird Western Tales #71 - Dan DiDio
Atom and Hawkman #46 - Geoff Johns
Starman #81 - James Robinson

Each of these stories will center around an important moment in the respective character's history and continuity. For example, Catwoman's story will touch on her first encounter with Black Mask. Which of the following series are you most looking forward to? Are you disappointed that Blackest Night will skip the month of January and that these books will be released instead?
