Best Comic Book Covers of the Week: 9/20/13

It's the end of the week, and time for the Comic Vine staff to decide what their favorite covers were for the week!

Welcome to the most magnificent, brilliant, and fun article on Comic Vine that comes out every week, on Fridays, about covers. It's Best Comic Book Covers of the Week! Each week, the Comic Vine staff lock themselves in a windowless room and discuss which comic book covers tickled their fancy. Now, keep in mind, you will not be seeing any 3D covers this month because there will be a wrap-up, at the end of the month. That being said, let's roll out some covers!

First up this week is the cover to ADVENTURE TIME #20 by artist Wes Craig. This cover may be a little tough for you to get your paws on since it's a 20 Copy incentive cover, but it's still pretty awesome, nonetheless. The cover does a great job at getting across the insanity and ridiculousness that is Adventure Time, all while giving the reader a little something to laugh about.

The next cover to grace this us this week is NEW AVENGERS #10 by Mike Deodato. This is a really stunning cover. Deodato presents these characters in a very stoic way. This represents the characters and the Illuminati group very well. The layout is very cool, and Doctor Strange floating in the background is the perfect way to spread the team out on the cover.

This issue of DAREDEVIL #31 features a pretty awesome cover by artist Chris Samnee. Nothing says fun like Daredevil about to get his head cut off by Jester, right? What's really cool about this piece is the way the title of the book is worked into the picture, hanging above the guillotine. Aside from that, the top of the cover is all negative space, so your eye travels from the top to the bottom naturally.

Here we have the cover to DARKNESS #115. It was pretty hard to find any info on the cover, but this looks like the work of artist Jeremy Haun. Jackie really has this great "come at me" vibe here, followed by a whole bunch of the undead. The color work on here (John Rauch) is pretty fantastic and the art piece, as a whole, flows incredibly well.

Finally, this week, we have the cover to MORBIUS THE LIVING VAMPIRE #9 by artist Marco Checchetto. The art work and color work here are pretty darn creepy, and what most of us thought was really cool was how busy this cover is. There is a ton of stuff to look at and focus on. Lastly, it's really cool to see the art within the coffin outline is much more detailed than the surroundings.

Once again, you may notice for the third week in a row, there's no mention of any of the DC 3D covers. Don't worry because at the end of the month, we'll be having a wrap up of the 3D covers to see what we liked, what we didn't like, and overall, did the gimmick work? Got some covers you loved? Let us know in the comment section!
