oh come now, it's not a zero-sum game. I'd wager most steph fans are cass fans too. they were always great together.

I mean, you won't have to work hard to convince me that cass is the more important of the two characters: she broke down racial barriers for the bat books and DC and carried her own title for more than five years as a female and asian lead. that's significant.

but I still want both characters back, not just cass.

No it's not a grimdark future, it jumps a head of a years worth of comics so all of this WILL happen through out the year.

@dedrabbit: Well, never say never, right? But we don't know the full extent. We've seen in the BATMAN AND ROBIN aftermath issues him teaming up with his former Robins. He's also gone off on Harper when she first showed signs of wanting to join the Bat-club. As for the person shown here, we have no idea what her association, if any, to Batman is. With the New 52, there's no telling how she'll be introduced when that issue comes out in April.

Hopefully Steph retains most of her pre-New 52 qualities. This issue has me excited for Eternal now more than ever.

Why did you ever stop?

i thought all this was obvious before i read it. I mean we already Stephanie Brown was making a debut that was already spoiled, no pun intended. Im just happy that Harper Row is not going by Nightwing, that's the only thing that really made me happy. Kinda wish she wasnt using shock base pellets or simply had another gimmick, especially with heroes like Static around then again its a large world in the DCU and that kinda thing shouldnt matter.

I honestly never cared for Steph, even when she was batgirl. Happy for her fans tho, hopefully she plays a major role in eternal.

I have to say kinda tame but for those waiting I bet they couldn't be happier =p

bought it hated it batman taking on a partner this early dosnt make sense letting said partner using guns of any sort is complete BS the art feels rushed as hell seeing as characters seem to change height inbetween panels and Batmans's character and dialog is way off and you could have cut Bluebird out of this and it wouldnt have mattered. and finaly instead of a spoiler issue the book feels more like a Batman Eternal advertisment

@hushofthewind: I think it's more that everyone assumed her first appearance would actually be in ETERNAL. Issue 3 is billed as her first appearance in the solicit. Then this sorta came out at us.

Well DC certainly made this a 'Spoiler' issue. Glad to see DC finally respecting fan favourite characters and all that. Though I'm not at all sold on Harper being Batman's new crime fighting partner, Bluebird. I would have much preferred it if she was the tech support/New 52 Oracle given her technical and electrical expertise instead of this mysterious new character who I am convinced is either Harper's brother or Carrie Kelly. Her weaponry, costume and lack of proper physical training means that I'm definitely not sold on Harper being Batman's new partner though it was always in the works I suppose.

Also, what happens to Selina Kyle to make her the new crime Kingpin of Gotham City? At least this way, Nocenti can't ruin her character too much, especially if there's a new writer for Catwoman.

That was wishful thinking on my part. There's no new confirmed writer of Catwoman yet but I hope there will be in the future.

The new writer for Catwoman is Sholly Fisch.
