Awesome Art Picks: Supergirl, Punisher, Robin and More

The coolest art of the week that you won't see in comic books.

We all like comic art, right? What could be better than comic art? How about some awesome comic art? Each week we cruise around the internet looking for the art that is so amazing, it has to be seen. If it's one thing comic book artist love to do is draw. Even though they're under tight deadlines with the books they're working on, they still like to draw other characters whether it's for fun or to experiment. Many artists have their own blog pages or Tumblr accounts. Others tweet pictures of commissions they do at conventions.

The first is a piece that we've seen as a work-in-progress from Peter Nguyen seen on his Tumblr. It's finally complete, just in time for New York Comic Con.

Last week we had some big news about Wonder Woman. Looks like she's going to have a dad now. Cliff Chiang is at NYCC as well so be sure to look for him. This following image is being auctioned by the San Antonio, TX chapter of Women of Wonder Day on October 30, 2011.

Francesco Francavilla was not able to attend NYCC but he did put out an offer to do commissions for the first ten people that contacted him (I'm sure that happened within seconds). He posted the following image on his blog showing what his commissions look like. It's the Fly!

Over at Comic Twart, each week a character is chosen and artists give their interpretation. This week, it was the Punisher. Francesco contributed to that as well.

Phil wrote the following description on his Tumblr page.

From the Hank Pym Photo Archives- Avengers Press Day “Tony thought it would be a good idea to invite some of the press over to Stark Mansion to highlight some of the work we were doing as the Avengers. I took this photo during an interview with a team from The Daily-something-or-other. I do remember the reporter asking us what we thought about other heroes’ roles in the country’s affairs. Apparently their city had, as the woman reporter put it, ‘A one-man Avengers team.’ “

Paolo Rivera is at NYCC and posted the following commissions he finished from last year on his blog. Cloak & Dagger and April O'Neil.

Where's Dustin Nguyen been up to lately? We know he's working on something. Nothing has been announced so far. But here is an image of a bunch of Robins he posted on his Deviant Art page.
