Awesome Art Picks: Hulk, Elektra, Joker and More

The coolest comic book art you won't see in comics.

Each and every week we like to gather up great comic book art by the professionals that won't actually end up in comics. The reason they won't is many artists often draw sketches for fun or commissions and post them on their websites and Tumblrs. They're too good to be missed. Some artists even arrange commissions or pre-commissions for upcoming shows through their sites so be sure to check them out.

Todd Nauck was crazy busy at WonderCon and posted the last batch of sketches on his Tumblr.

I haven't checked out Michael Cho's blog in a while and he recently posted some sketches of the Frightful Four for a fundraising auction for the Doug Wright Awards. You can find out more information about that HERE. Michael noted he doesn't normally draw in this style but wanted to try it out.

Mad Men returned last weekend and Phil Noto couldn't resist posting a Don Draper piece on his Tumblr. He also posted a stunning Carol Danvers sketch.

I've mentioned it on our podcast before but you really should check out Paolo Rivera's blog. He often posts behind-the-scenes process looks at how he creates different covers and crazy reference posts. He also posted a Spider-Man commission from last year because he misses drawing the eyes 'his" way.

Gene Gonzales is getting ready for Heroescon in June. He posted his commission info on his blog and you can contact him to be added to his advanced sketch list. He also has some art for sale (like this Elektra piece) on his blog.

Chris Giarrusso posted a Captain America sketch cover he did (with colors by Laura Martin) on his website. He also posted a sketch and finished version of G-Man's pal, Tan Man riding a broom (it makes sense if you read CAPE CRISIS). There was also another installment of Tales from the Con posted. You can see loads more HERE.

Agnes Garbowska posted some more sketches and her new convention banner on her Tumblr. I goofed last week (obviously) when I mentioned she was at Boston Comic Con. I wish I was going to that but I will be at C2E2 the following week, as will Agnes. We'll see if we can make another Mystery Art Challenge happen. Check out Agnes' post to see the rest of her schedule for this year. She's a busy lady.

Speaking of Batman, Dustin Nguyen posted on his Tumblr his apologies that LI'L GOTHAM will only happen one time this month. He does assure us it will only be for the month of April. Hopefully you've been reading the installments digitally or you picked up the first printed issue this past week.

That's it for this week. It was a little lighter but many great pieces, as usual.
