Avengers: Age of Ultron Promo Art Features Hulkbuster vs. Hulk, Ultron and More [Update]

New images of the heroic team, the big bad, and Tony Stark taking on the green goliath? Sure, sounds good to us!

In 2015, a sequel to a little movie called The Avengers will open in theaters. You may have heard of the comic book film since it made about a gazillion dollars at the worldwide box office and director Joss Whedon made sure the movie was a whole lot of fun. The follow-up, Avengers: Age of Ultron, already has a trailer out and Marvel Studios and the cast have certainly been doing plenty to build the hype, but now we're getting a little treat: New promo art. It doesn't offer anything mind-blowing or new (aside from teasing the possibility of Thor kicking a whole lot of robotic butt), but considering how excited we are for the movie, it's still pretty cool to stare at these. Assuming you're also stoked for the movie, we're sure you'll enjoy giving these a look as well.

Again, these may not bring anything new to the table, but given how pumped many of us are about this movie, it's good fun looking at these and thinking about how all of these elements will be handled in the movie. Which of the above images excites you the most, though? We're going to guess a good amount of you are seriously anxious to watch Hulkbuster vs. Hulk, right?

Avengers: Age of Ultron is directed by Joss Whedon and set to open May 1.

UPDATE

More images have been released and these offer more information (and another look) at Vision and Ultron. There's also a look at Black Widow's new costume and weaponry.

That Thor art looks awesome. Hulkbuster vs Hulk looks alright, really worried about that scene in the movie. Still don't like Ulton's design.

The Hulk vs Iron Man part actually looks to be one of the least interesting parts of this movie, at least in my opinion. Hero vs. hero is always so boring in the end.

Vision looks awesome. You can count on one finger the amount of times a character that is yellow green and red has pulled that look off on screen. Ultron is still impressive too.

So Stark didn't create Ultron, he just experimented on him.

As i said with the Ant-Man banner, these just don't look like official Marvel Press Releases, nor leaked stuff. Kinda surprised websites are running with them as Marvel Promo art. It looks like more of fan art. A smidge nit picky i guess.

Cool though.

I'm interested in Ultron now being a Chitauri program rather than created by Tony Stark. That's at least a much more preferable outcome than Stark creating Ultron compared to Hank Pym in the comics. Glad to see Thor getting some spotlight and the Hulk vs Hulkbuster promo art looks superb. Vision is looking like a good design too, I just hope Age of Ultron isn't too overcluttered with characters in a 2-2 and half hour film.

Ultron being a program found within the Chitarui's technology caught me off-guard for a moment, mainly because I didn't even expect that. But having it being an alien program that Stark simply re-engineered makes it a bit more interesting and better explains why Ultron would want to eradicate Humanity. Though I was hoping that they would have at least mentioned that Tony based Ultron off of Hank Pym's design and would still give Pym some credit, but oh well.

I'm interested in how fans will accept Vision's movie origins, with him being created by Stark and Banner instead of by Ultron himself. Though it does explain why JARVIS is voicing him as I assume at some point in the film Tony will call upon JARVIS to bring Vision online to help in their battle against Ultron.

@war_killer: That would have been at least a compromise but I guess all the Ant Man info is being saved for his own film. Maybe it's being hidden real well and Tony will name drop Hank Pym as one of the people who helped him out on Ultron.

Vision's new origin looks a whole lot more compelling than Ultron's. It does make sense for Tony to weaponise his own intelligence program into an android body.

@lvenger: That would be a nice way for Marvel to still push Tony as the creator of Ultron but still respecting fans of Pym by giving him some credit. It would be a nice easter egg as well.
I have this feeling that Vision may be Tony's trump card against Ultron. You mentioned concern over the movie being too cluttered, which made me wonder if we might not see certain characters till near the end of the movie, like Vision for example.

@war_killer: Pity. I was hoping it was another infinity stone but Ultron wouldn't really need the time stone or the aether if he has the iron legion at his back.

@lvenger: Well they could build Vision up with Tony and Bruce discussing him or even showing them building him in their lab, but his big introduction could be held off until the big final battle or something where he's The Avengers' reinforcement. I feel like his powers could be useful against Ultron, being intangible and whatnot, which makes me think he could be their trump card.

I'm telling yall, these do not look authentic. If they were really from Marvel or Disney, where is their stamp on any of it? Or an artists Sig? Scour the internet and you won't find any official press release from Marvel or Disney.

Looks great, still a little sad they wont be doing the comic version where its the father, son, grandson, generational struggle thing. The character bios of the Vision and Ultron seem to confirm it. The father (Pym or Stark) uses his brainwaves to impart his mind on his son, giving the son all his fears, hate, etc, making the son (Ultron) the father's dark side made real, then the son creates his own son (Vision) and tries to make him hate the same things too, only the grandfather (Pym or Stark) is able to save his grandson (Vision) where he could not save his son (Ultron). It is almost like the movies Monsters Ball or American History X, where the father/brother tries to save his son/brother from the racism he role modeled all his life. Also what I loved in the comics was that Ultron was all of Pym's hate, fear, sadness, insecurities, dark thoughts, failures, all made flesh (so to speak). He used his own mind to create Ultron's and Ultron became a humanity hating monster. And reminds Pym of his own dark and secret thoughts and fears every time they fight. But then Ultron creates the Vision and sort of redeems Pym by creating the good side of Pym's mind. All his heroism, intelligence, love, bravery, etc. It would have been nice to have that generational and psychological struggle.

Still this movie and the art related to it is looking amazing. I cannot wait to see it.

I'm thinking (also read as "hoping") it's a case of Marvel selecting their words carefully. The description says "discovered...among the ruins of the Chitauri invasion of New York." It doesn't call out the computer program as being of Chitauri origin, maybe an old lab/building (Pym's) was destroyed and while searching through the rubble of battle, this "simple computer program" was found. "Simple" may be a hint that it was developed in a time of early computing on Earth. Also, Chitauri tech wouldn't be considered 'simple' in my opinion.
